Samsung Galaxy S24 FE receives October 2024 security patch following recent critical Galaxy bug
Samsung is releasing a new update to improve security and stability for its smartphones in response to significant recent problems that impacted a number of Samsung Galaxy models, including the Galaxy S10 and Note10 series, where a SmartThings Framework upgrade left phones trapped in a boot loop. The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, which is presently available on Amazon for $649.99, appears to be the first item on the list. Numerous devices became unusable due to the previously described software mistake, raising worries about data loss and 2FA access issues.
Samsung appears to have taken quick action by releasing the October 2024 security patch, even before Google pushed the update out to its own Pixel devices. The update, which has its rollout date marked as 4th October 2024 on the official Samsung website, includes One UI build version S721BXXS2AXI5 and upgrades system security, most likely addressing vulnerabilities in the OS.
Though specific details about the issues addressed in the patch are still unclear, Samsung is expected to release more information soon. At the time of writing, the update is rolling out to Galaxy S24 FE users in Asia and Africa (as per Android Trends), with a broader global rollout on the way.
To install the update, users can manually do so by navigating to Settings, heading to Software Update, and tapping ‘Download and install’. Please note that it may be a while before the update gets pushed out to all regions.
