Garmin announces new smartwatch update with race time prediction improvement
The Forerunner 955 smartwatch is now receiving software version 20.26 from Garmin. The wearable now has two more functions in addition to a number of enhancements and bug fixes thanks to the most recent stable version.
A Device Settings Backup and Restore tool and Garmin Share are new additions for the Forerunner 955, with the latter providing an easy way to send workout or map-related data to another compatible Garmin device. The Garmin Run Coach feature has been integrated with the Garmin Connect app, and there are a few enhancements for swimmers. The change log also notes that changes have been made to race time predictions, factoring in your fitness level and latest workout data. However, several users have complained about these ‘improvements’, labelling their new results as unrealistic. Others were more upbeat, suggesting that the forecast metrics were now more optimistic, having previously been slightly pessimistic.
It is also worth noting that battery drain continues to be an issue flagged by customers for these latest firmware releases. All users of the Forerunner 955 smartwatch should be able to download software version 20.26. If you wish to install the update, navigate to ‘Check For Updates’ from your watch’s menu.
