Huawei Mate 70 Pro design and camera enhancements spotted in new leak

The Huawei Mate 60 Pro and the purportedly forthcoming “70 Pro” are expected to have nearly identical construction, with the exception that the latter’s 6.8-inch display will be quad-curved for perhaps improved bezel management. This information comes from a recent leak.

Furthermore, the XMAGE-branded camera hump has been redesigned to mimic the appearance of a vinyl record, albeit one with three lenses embedded in it. (It remains to be seen, though, if its real-life counterpart can match the new render’s more favorable light.)

Those shooters are now rumored to contain a new main sensor that upgrades from the increasingly standard 50MP resolution to 60MP in the newer model and a 48MP ultrawide-angle lens as opposed to 12MP in the 60 Pro. Then again, the 70 Pro might retain its predecessor’s 48MP periscope zoom module.

Those cameras are also now believed to come enhanced with mysterious new “AI-DC” optimizations, which may or may not also explain the 2 small squares to either side of this new logo also found toward the bottom of the black disk above the 60 Pro-esque flash.

The Mate 70 Pro is still projected to launch later in 2024 compared to other contemporary flagship handsets, Huawei’s inaugural tri-fold smartphone included.
