[STORY] DIARY OF A MAD IGBO WOMAN (Episode 09)

Episode 09.

“Bayo Adedeji, do you take Ada Nwankwo as your lovely wedded wife?”. Pastor Enoch asked Bayo.

“I do”. Bayo said with a full smile as he stared at his soon to be wife.

“Ada Nwankwo, do you take Bayo Adedeji as your lovely wedded husband?”.

“I do”.

“I, Bayo Adedeji promise to love, hold and to cherish you Ada Nwankwo even in sickness and in health till death us part”.

“I, Ada Nwankwo promise to love, honour and cherish you Bayo Adedeji even in sickness and in health till death us part”.

“I now pronounce you as husband and wife. You may kiss your bride”. Pastor Enoch announced as he watched Bayo Adedeji unveil Ada and kiss her.

They walked into their room and he watched her undress.

She glared at him when she noticed the way he was staring. “You have to wait till I am ready. I am not ready to have sex with you for now”.

He swallowed and looked away. “I was expecting this”.

She was surprised at his words. “You were expecting this?why then did you get married to me?”.

“…because I love you”.

She met his eyes. “You barely even know me enough”.

“I have hope in you because I love you. True love is hoping in a love that seems like it is impossible. I know you married me because my father employed my sister and she wanted to take my position”.

She gasped. “You took the greatest risk because of some foolish love?”.

He shrugged. “The fact that we behave like fools when we love someone does not make it a foolish love. It makes it a promised love”.

“Promised love?”. She scoffed. “Once I am done with getting back my feet,I am leaving this marriage”.

“It won’t be that easy, Ada Adedeji. It won’t be easy to come out of a marriage with Bayo Adedeji”. He walked out of the room.

Her heart was beating faster as she watched after him.

She fearfully dialled Elizabeth Ajayi’s number. “You need to save me from someone, Elizabeth Ajayi”.

“I still find it so hard to believe that after all the times I shared with that foolish man and his family, he closed his eyes to his son marrying a stranger over my child!”. Chief Brian Efemena said bitterly to his wife as they ate breakfast in the dining room.

Ufeoma who had already cried her eyes out last night continued eating in silence.

“I heard that Bayo really loves that girl that he just met in a short while”.

One of the maids of the house walked into their midst. ” One Chief Sanni is here to see you”.

Chief Brian and Sanni walked towards the garden of the house.

Chief Sanni sighed deeply. “I was surprised to find out that chief Adedeji allowed his tool to become his daughter in law and neglected your friendship with him”.

“Tool? How?”.

“Oh, you didn’t know? Adedeji’s daughter in law was the tool he used in the attempted murder of my son. Chief Adedeji’s daughter almost killed Daniel two months ago”.

“I find this so hard to believe”.

“Join me in my fight, Brian. Help me achieve the position as governor and I will help you get your revenge on Adedeji. Chief Adedeji will come crawling to you to get your daughter to marry his son”.

“Sincerely I am so scared, Elizabeth. Just on our wedding night, I was seeing a different side of Bayo. That guy is obsessed with me”Ada said fearfully as she walked in Elizabeth Ajayi’s house.

“Handsome bobo like Bayo is obsessed with you and you are complaining?”. Elizabeth said mischievously.

Ada shrugged. “I told him I won’t be having sex with him till I am ready”.

Elizabeth gasped. “How long will you be foolish Ada? You want to delay the birth of the heir to the company so that Mrs Adedeji will chase you out of the house and bring in that Urhobo girl?”.

Ada gasped and nodded thoughtfully. “You are right”.

“Look here Ada, relax in this marriage and enjoy yourself. Take position. Take control. Enjoy your life, enjoy yourself, enjoy that man that you now call a husband”.

Ada frowned slightly. “…but I don’t find him attractive”.

Elizabeth grinned. “You don’t find him attractive and you were kissing him like that on your wedding day. Hmmmm”.

Ada chuckled. “He was the one kissing me. I didn’t kiss him”.

“Liar” Elizabeth whispered.

Ada’s phone rang. It was Bayo. “Talking about the devil…”. She nudged Elizabeth and placed the call on loud speaker after connecting it.

“Can you come out of the house right now?”.

“House? How? What house?”.

“My tracking device says that you are in Elizabeth Ajayi’s house right now in Newland estate block seventeen”.

She gasped and rushed to check through the window.

Bayo had parked his car in Elizabeth Ajayi’s compound.

“My husband placed a tracking device in my car to monitor my every movement!!!what on earth did I marry?”. Ada cried out.

“What kind of foolish love is this?”. Elizabeth asked disdainfully.
