Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo has lifted the lid on some of the things he missed out on while he was a player with English Premier League side Chelsea FC.

Omeruo expresses sadness following several loan transfers to Chelsea
Omeruo did not play a single senior competitive game for Chelsea despite being a Chelsea player for seven years.
The 28-year-old centre-back signed for Chelsea in 2012 but never played a full season for the Blues, going on loan to five different clubs during his time with the Blues.
Ahead of the 2019/20 season, the Nigerian international secured a permanent transfer to then La Liga side Leganes after a successful loan spell the season before.
Omeruo plays 100 games for Leganes
On playing a century of games for Leganes, the Super Eagles captain admitted he felt honoured to reach that feat as it was something he never got the opportunity to do while at Chelsea.
As reported by goalballlive, Omeruo said: “It’s an honour to play over one hundred games for Leganes. For a long time, I have been a Chelsea player, and I could not achieve that.
“Coming here and settling down and playing a lot of games is an achievement and great honour to captain a team like Leganes. It’s also a big responsibility and the aim is to lift the team back to LaLiga.”
Omeruo on differences between Premier League and La Liga
Omeruo also stated that his experience while at Chelsea has helped him to develop into a better defensive player, combining the physical nature of the Premier League with the tactical acumen on show in the La Liga.
“Playing in England is more physical with lots of aerial balls, but not as tactical and technical as in Spain,” Omeruo explained.
“As a defender, both experiences have helped me to defend against strong tall attackers. As a defender in the Spanish league, I have also learnt how to play with the balls.”
Omeruo played on loan for clubs such as ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough, Kasimpasa, and Alanyaspor to varying degrees of success before finding a home at Leganes.
The Nigerian international has so far played for four full seasons at Leganes, featuring in 103 matches in both the La Liga and the second division La Liga 2.
