THE X-FAMILY Story by Faith Lucky (Octavia and the Master)

Episode 41.

Mica was stunned, out of words.

What the hell was she talking about?

She scoffed and looked at the blood stained back again.

“You…You can’t feel any pain? How’s that possible?” She asked, but Octavia couldn’t give any reply either.

It’s never happened to her before; never.

“Are you sure about this?” Mica asked again and Octavia nodded.

She just couldn’t believe the whole stuff.

Octavia was almost going into shock. The name kept replaying in her head, but she didn’t want to think about it.

Why would he want to save her? Stop her from feeling the pain? What reason could he possibly have?

No. It couldn’t be him. She didn’t deserve it and didn’t want to believe he could do something like that for her.

There was a long silence between the two sisters as they both had different thoughts running through their minds.

Finally, Mica broke the silence.

“Come on, then. You need to clean up in the bathroom” she said as she stood up and Octavia did same.

And even as they walked into the bathroom, she was still lost in thoughts.

It was evening already.
The scars were there, and it still marveled Octavia why she couldn’t feel any pains.

Oh! What the hell happened out there?

She could remember Becca whipping her angrily, but there was no pain at all. Nothing.

She sat on the floor in the room, her back resting against the bed. She held her drawing book with her and decided to distract herself with one of her favorites.

The previous event was still trying to confuse her and all she wanted was to clear her head from it. Just go free.

She thought of what to draw, a car? A house? A pathway? A desert?

She couldn’t even think straight due to how blur her head was.

She sighed and set the pencil on the paper, suddenly, an idea popped into her head.

What if she tries drawing someone for the first time, instead of just objects and places?

The thought niggled at her, but she was a little confused. Who does she draw?

Khalid…

The name flashed into her head, but she quickly rebuffed the idea.

Not entirely rebuffed, but she felt she couldn’t do it.

Like…draw the Master? Is that even possible?

Oh! Of course it was, but she felt scared to.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door and it jolted her out of her thoughts.

She lifted her head to look at the door, feeling a bit scared. Who could it be?

Well, everything seemed to be making her so scared after the previous incidence.

The knock came again and she stood up and walked towards it. She took in a deep breath and opened the door and crap! It was Khalid’s guards

She shifted uncomfortably. Wouldn’t it look suspicious finding her on her feet, when she’s meant to be shivering in pains?

The two boys stared silently at her for a while.

“Come with us. The Master wants you in his room” the one first said and her heart skipped a bit.

Wants her in his room?

“Come on” he titled his head and started walking away and Octavia, after a little reluctance, had to follow after them.

They didn’t come across much people on their way and finally, they got to his room.

Octavia felt so nervous as the boys knocked on the door and in a few seconds, the Master’s deep voice came:

“Let her in and leave”.

Huh?

The first boy opened the door and urged her to go in and she took in a nervous gulp and walked in, her hands feeling so sweaty beside her.

The door was locked afterwards, making her feel alone in the room.

It was a little dim, but she strained her eyes to have a look, wondering where the Master could be.

Then, she spotted a line of smoke and taking a proper look, she found him by the window, he was smoking.

Her breath hitched. Oh! She couldn’t explain the goosebumps she always received around him.

He put out his cigarette and moved away from the window, walking towards her. And with each step he took, Octavia could feel herself becoming so nervous.

He was wearing a baggy short and a black shirt,his hair looking a bit rough. But he seemed he actually did it on purpose.

“How’s your back?” He asked as he brought a pack of cigarette from his pocket and took another stick.

She swallowed hard. Could it be possible he’s aware of it and was just trying to play with her emotions?

Well, of course. That only explains why he had ordered for her to be brought to his room when normally, she should be in pains.

Oh! She was right afterall! He knew about it.

“It’s… It’s fine, Master” she answered anyway, in a low tone and her head bowed.

Khalid scoffed as he lit the stick and took a drag from it.

He was silent for a while, just smoking from his cigarette and Octavia felt really nervous standing so close to him.

What could possibly be going through his mind? Why was he so silent?

“I didn’t let Becca punish you” he finally said, reducing her anxiety.

Octavia felt her heart skip again.

He was really behind it! He was really behind it!

Ah! Of course, she knew it!

“I didn’t want her to punish you that way for reasons best known to me”.
He took a drag from his cigarette and puffed smoke into the air, which made Octavia uncomfortable.

Oh! She hated the smell of cigarette.

“But it doesn’t mean you’re going to entirely free, Octavia, for what you did” he added and she looked at him.

What’s he talking about?

A long silence passed.

“You’ll be spending the night in my room. I’m going to punish you myself” he added and walked away.
