“Please Use Helicopter”: See Letter Lai Mohammed Wrote To Fashola On GEJ’s 2013 Visit
President Goodluck Jonathan plans to visit Lagos on Thursday, 18th April, and The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) is not happy with that development.
The opposition party says following precedence, the visit of the president would most likely lead to the closure of roads which could prevent thousands of ACN supporters coming in from all over the country to make it to the venue, warning that it may lead to frustration and provocation of the ACN members.
In a letter written to the Lagos governor, Babatunde Fashola, by the ACN national publicity secretary, Lai Mohammed, the party said, “the timing of the president’s visit and the attendant disruption of traffic in Lagos may be perceived as a continuation of the perceived attempts by the PDP-led federal government to frustrate the merger of our party with other progressive parties, which is a key item on the agenda of our national convention on Thursday.”
The party said that frustration of ACN members might lead to a breach of peace, “the consequences of which no one may be able to fathom.”
Mohammed appealed to the Lagos governor to advise President Jonathan to either reschedule his visit or use helicopter so that roads would not be closed on such a busy day.
