‘Stranger Things 3’ Bags Most Watched Series In The History Of Netflix!
Against a backdrop of mitigated critical reviews, articles criticizing the show’s incestuous bonds with brands and a more aggressive marketing campaign than ever, the results are now in for Stranger Things, the biggest hit in the history of Netflix.
When the platform presented its figures for the third quarter of 2019, which exceeded Wall Street estimates, it also revealed that the third season of its 80s golden hen had been viewed by 64 million households in the first four weeks following its release. That’s a record which has never before been seen in the streaming platform’s history.
In these conditions, it’s no surprise that Stranger Things has been renewed for a fourth season and that Netflix has signed a huge deal with the Duffer brothers, who’ll be creating other series and films in the coming years. This Q3 presentation was highly significant for the company after it lost subscribers in the United States for the first time in Q2. In a word, the excellent figures for Stranger Things – along with the success of several other series, including Money Heist and the recent Unbelievable – have allowed Netflix to keep its head above water and to win back subscribers (6.8 million, including 520,000 in the States) as big competitors (Disney+ and Apple TV+) rear their heads on the horizon.
