Will Smith Is Set To Return A Spin-Off Series Of ‘The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air’
A much-loved series among thirty-somethings and a vintage curiosity for millennials, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air could be making a comeback on our screens in 2020. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news in a long portrait of Will Smith, who’s currently appearing in the movie Gemini Man.
The former star of the cult sitcom is reported to be preparing a spin-off of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air via the digital content studio Westbrook, which he launched with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith last July. In the original series, which lasted for six seasons and 148 episodes before retiring gracefully, the actor played a young man from a working class neighborhood in Philadelphia who gets into trouble and is sent by his mother to live with his aunt and uncle, Phil and Vivian Banks, in the chic suburb of Bel-Air.
The series which made Will Smith a household name was screened for the first time on NBC on September 10 1990 and continues to be much-loved by a whole generation of series lovers almost thirty years on. A few days ago, Will Smith restoked the flame by releasing a clothing collection inspired by The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
For now, we don’t know much more about the series project the actor has dreamed up, but it gives us a good excuse to rewatch all six seasons of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air on Netflix.
