Richard Williams, popularly known as Prince Ea is an American spoken word artist, poet, and filmmaker born on September 16th, 1988, in St Louis, Missouri, United States.
So Today we shall be revealing 10 things you probably didn’t know about the popular spoken word artist Prince Ea.
1. Prince Ea was born into the family of three, where he happens to be youngest and he started his career fully in 2005.
2. Prince Ea spent his whole life in St. Louis, Missouri. He first started working under the stage name “Prince Ea” when he graduated magna cum laude in Anthropology from the University of Missouri–St. Louis. “Prince Ea” is derived from Sumerian mythology meaning “The Prince of the Earth”.
3. In 2009 he formed a movement aimed to promote free thought, intelligence, unity and creativity in hip-hop music industry and hip hop culture because he was upset with the then music industry. In the same year he won a Funk Volume competition. The win stemmed from his success on YouTube. After that, he was declared as the first hip-hop artist to have a feature on the magazine “Discover”.
4. In 2014, Prince Ea shifted his focus from music to creating motivational and inspirational spoken word films and content. His YouTube videos have received over a billion views.
5. “Can We Auto-Correct Humanity?”, “I Am NOT Black, You are NOT White”, “Dear Future Generations: Sorry” and “I JUST SUED THE SCHOOL SYSTEM !!!” are videos that earned him more attentions in every part of the world
6. In 2016, Prince Ea was criticised by an English Vlogger “Boyinaband” on the grounds that he doesn’t provide sources for his assertions. Ea’s claims criticised by Boyinaband include that “the average person spends 4 years looking down at his cellphone”, claiming that depression is simply a state of mind and being aware of depression is proof of not being depressed while simultaneously stating that in a decade depression will be the leading cause of death, that studies have shown that the average adult has an attention span a second lower than a goldfish, that watching short videos cause ADD and that genetically modified food is harmful. He was also criticised for the large amount of clickbait that he shares on his Facebook page without disclosing that he is likely paid for the traffic generated to the clickbait articles and the fact that he claims that social media has a bad influence while at the same time having such a large presence on social media. Prince Ea then responded to the criticism by claiming his critics have HIV, which he redefines as “Hate In Veins” and that Boyinaband was his jealous of him and made criticism videos to attract views.
7. As of 2018, Prince Ea’s relationship status is “Single”. Meanwhile, he was once accussed of being a gay as he seems not showing anything relating to females to his fans. But along the line, it was discovered that he’s not a gay but a straight male.

Prince Ea disclosed that; hunger and depression made him quit music for motivational spoken words, he said “The Suffering & Unhappiness Was so much that I stopped making music and decided that I simply wanted to be happy. This is when I began to read ancient and modern texts on spirituality. I became enthralled in everything from the Baghavad Gita to the Tao te Ching. Through literature and introspection I realized that “doing” will never make me happy, it is only in “being” where happiness and peace arises.”
