[STORY] THE PROPER MRS (Episode 01)

Episode 01.

“Are you not going to feed Zolander her flakes before going?”. Ray fired at me.

I walked to the door. “Feed her yourself, Ray”.

He glared at me. “Have you ever played a role of mother? Your modelling job is always more important than your child! That stupid indecent modelling job!”.

I stopped short and fumed at him. “Is all these simply because I told you to feed Zolander?”.

“Who fed her till this moment? Are you not supposed to use your senses even if you don’t have one to know that I am really in a hurry to go to work this morning?”

I smirked at him. “You should be happy that I am still sticking with you since five miserable years of this marriage. Do you know the kind of men i see everyday in the industry? Better men than you are, but still, I still stick with your sorry ass”.

“Let’s get a divorce, Patricia”. He walked into our room and returned with a white sheet and pen. “I knew that a time like this will come so i came fully prepared. Sign”.

I was shocked to see the man that had worshipped me for five years so eager to divorce me. I signed on the paper without a second thought and i could see the relieve in the idiot’s eyes immediately I signed.

He stretched a hand. “Congratulations miss Thomas”.

Thomas was my father’s name.

The famous Patricia Brian was now a divorcee and was now back as Patricia Thomas.

From married life, back to single life.

Ray was leaving my life for good.

I was still surprised at his actions. “Are you not scared of loosing the ever famous celebrity?”.

He smirked. “Every real man wants a wife and a mother. If those men perching around you know the real you, they will run for their lives”.

“I will meet someone that loves me”.

He chuckled. “I wish you best of luck”.

I rushed in to get my suitcase and my baby’s suitcase.

Ray was feeding Zolander when i returned to the sitting room.

I grit my teeth at him. “I am taking Zolander along”.

He shrugged. “…if she allows you though”.

“Allows me? What are you saying? I am her mother and I carried her in my womb for nine months”.

“Is that enough to be a mother?did you ever play the role?or your role is just to lay eggs?”.

I snatched Zolander from him but my baby was crying bitterly immediately she got to my arms. She struggled out of my arm back to her father’s arm.

I snatched the food from him and tried to feed her but she didn’t eat from my hand.

Ray collected Zolander’s plate of food from me. “She knows who made the flakes. She knows who made the effort. She knows who always make the flakes”.

I walked out of the house with my own suitcase and left Zolander’s suitcase with him.

My daughter rejected me.

Was Ray right?

He was always the one that made the flakes.

He was always the one that made the effort.

Even if I wanted to go back to being Patricia Brian, it was never going to be possible.

Or was it?

I had not even left the house when a young lady greeted me and walked towards our house.

I stopped her. “What do you want?”.

“I am Ray’s best friend”.

“Why are you here?”.

“He is divorced now. So, I don’t owe you any explanation”.

“I have a child with Ray”.

“Wow! Here I was thinking that Zolander was motherless”.

I fumed at her. “Are you crazy?”.

“You don’t have to waste your time. No matter what you do, Ray will never think of getting married to you again. He is so relieved that he has divorced you”. She patted me on my shoulder and I watched my own daughter run out to hug her excitedly.

My own daughter.

It dawned on me.

My home was going to be taken away by this strange woman.

Was Ray going to get married?

That moment it dawned on me that I was about to loose the man I loved the most and my child.

For the first time in my life, I was so scared.

My phone rang.

It was my manager.

I reluctantly connected the line.

“Hello Mrs Patricia Brian, Colyn Pampers wants you to be their ambassador in their next advert and…”.

“I am no longer a Mrs, I am now a miss. Call me miss Patricia”. I informed him.

Come to think of it, I was going to get more offers once sponsors discover that I am no longer hooked up.

I was torn between two fears…the fear of allowing another woman to snatch my home and the fear of not becoming the most famous woman in the world.

I didn’t want to loose my husband and child and I also wanted to be the most famous woman in the world.

I will not allow that woman to have her way in my own home and at the same time I was going to grow in the industry.
