SUSAN’S REVENGE Story by Ayo Omolayo _ AllNaijaEntertainment

Episode 18.

I opened the door and entered the office.

He was standing at the window, his back turned to me.
“Sit!” He said in a calm voice.
I smiled and sat down quietly.

Both of us didn’t say anything for almost two minutes. All I could hear was the sound of his heart beat, sir pressing his anger.
“Lord, what’s going on?” I asked.

“DON’T BE AFRAID! I HAVE PUT MY WORDS IN YOUR MOUTH!” Came the gentle whisper and I relaxed.
“Susan!” He finally broke the silence.
“Getting you into this school was the biggest mistake of my life. Allowing you stay when you refused to comply with me, was even worse. I have come to a conclusion. Two captains cannot lead the same ship”.
“They can sir!” I grinned.
“All they need to do is to take turns”.
“Susan!” He banged his fist on the table. I jerked, but threw a smile at him.
He opened a drawer and brought out an envelope.

“Your services, or should I say, your virus is no longer needed here. You are fired!” He said, placing the envelope on the table.
I smiled and looked at him.
“I thought you said you would never fire me?” I asked.
“I did, but now I realise that decision was a mistake. I regret every bit of it. So I have willingly decided to lose. Please make sure you celebrate your victory when you get out of this office”, he said and turned to a file on his table.

I sighed and leaned forward. He was avoiding my eyes. He just didn’t want to look into them. Whenever our eyes met, he looked away.
“So why have you chosen not to lose to him?” I asked in a soft voice.
“Who?” He asked.
“Jesus!” I replied.
He hissed and looked away.
“Christians are all fake. They are decievers. My Dad was a Christian, but he did whatever he wanted with women. I was not even ready to believe there was anything good in being a Christian.
Years ago, I was in a garage when an elderly man met me. He told me he wanted to preach to me, but I waved him off.”
“Thank you Jesus! Finally, he’s talking”, I said inwardly.
“He kept following me around and preached to me. He told me that I would be meat for Hell fire if I don’t repent.

Angry, I turned and slapped him. I believe that as a Christian, what he was commanded to do was to turn the other cheek for a second slap. But this guy dropped his Bible on the ground and grabbed my shirt. ‘Two of us go die today!’ he shouted.

I was so disappointed in him. I got so angry that I began to strangle him. It was the intervention of the garage boys that saved him. I would have sent that idiot to his ancestors.

Susan, Christians are fake. They are people who think they can be better, but are only pretending they are. Forget this Jesus stuff or anything”.
I sighed and looked at him. I drew my chair closer and leaned forward.
“George!” I called.
“What is it?” He asked looking at the file in his hand.
“Look at me!”
“Why?”
“Just do it”, I said pleadingly.
He looked at me and our gaze held.
“Tell me that Jesus is not real! Look me in the eyes and tell me he is not real!”
He opened his mouth and was not able to utter a word. He looked away and bowed his head.

“George! How long will you keep hardening your heart? Please give Jesus a chance. You are tired of this life. I know you are”,
He stood up and walked towards the shelves. He searched for what was not missing for a few seconds and leaned his head on the shelf.

I stood up and walked to meet him. I placed my hand on his shoulder and saw his shoulders rise. He didn’t turn to look at me.
His heart was racing fast.

“George! I know you feel you have done the unpardonable. You feel so dirty and unredeemable. No, God is bigger than all your problems. You have hurt alot of people, but God is ready to forgive you. If only you can accept him. If only you can lay your burdens at his feet.
Please George, accept his offer of mercy and be free. You have been carrying this weight of guilt for so long. It’s time to be free”.
He sighed and shook his head.

“George, deep inside you, you’re a good man. There’s a kind soul inside you. You love people so much, but you cannot explain why you see yourself hurting others. Only Jesus can help you truly love.
Yes George, my God is love. He can teach you how to love. Just give him the opportunity to make things right. Accept Jesus!”

He turned and looked at me. His eyes were clouded with tears.
“Thank you Jesus!” I said within me.
Suddenly, he drew out one of the hard cover notes from the shelf and made to hit me. He had a little difficulty in pulling out the tightly arranged books, so I had enough time to escape. But I stood.

He hit me with the book. I made no effort to block him. He hit me a second time on the head and I took it.
He hit me real hard the third time and I gave a cry of pain.
When he stopped, I looked up at him, expecting more hits. I saw the shock on his face. He was surprised I made no effort to defend myself.

But his hand was hanging in the air, about to make a fourth hit. I shut my eyes in expectation, making no effort to defend myself.
He threw the book away and screamed loudly.
“Get out!” He shouted.
My tears rolled down my cheeks as I turned to leave.
I looked back and saw him watching me. Our eyes met and we held our gaze.

“Romans 5:7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
Verse 8. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”, I said with a sad smile.

Those words had an effect on him. He moved back and hit his back on the shelf, sending some of the neatly arranged books crashing in the process.
“Get out!” He screamed.
I was almost touching the door knob when I heard him say.

“I cannot escape the consequences of what I have done. Nomatter the forgiveness Jesus offers, I will never be free from the consequences. So what’s the point?” He said to himself.
“SUSAN! TURN BACK!” Came the gentle whisper
