Road to Nowhere By Success Adegbite

Episode 14.

Daniel humbly walked out of the room in tears.
All that while, Mrs Ololade was in her room watching the television and eating some snacks. She wasn’t aware of anything going on at all.

Dammy kept to her room crying silently for hours. Daniel was also in his room crying and praying to God to touch her sister’s house.

“Lord, if you can forgive me of all the things I have done, you can also touch my sister’s heart so that she would forgive me. I have repented of what I did to her, I’m really sorry. Please, God, let her forgive me”, Daniel groaned in prayers with tears on his face.

“After all Daniel has done to me, he wants me to forgive him? How can I? If you were in my shoes, would you have forgiven him”, Dammy said talking to no one in particular.

“He really hurt me. He did. I was in great pains because of him. I felt really miserable. It’s very difficult to let it go. It’s really difficult”, Dammy said as more tears rolled down her face.

Suddenly, a message entered her phone. She thought the message was from David, but, surprisingly, it was from Esther.
Esther was inviting her to a program that was going to hold the following week. Esther stated in her message that the program was mainly for females and the theme of the program was “The journey of a lady”. The program was to be hosted by a popular female activist who was also a counselor and motivational speaker, Mrs Folabomi Adeseye.

Dammy wasn’t in the mood for stuffs like that. She ignored the message and dropped her phone.

After some minutes, she felt it wasn’t good enough to ignore Esther’s message. So, she texted Esther back that she wouldn’t be able to make the program.
After replying the message, Dammy slept off.

Some hours later, Mr Ololade returned from work very tired.

“Hey darling, Welcome. How was work today”, Mrs Ololade said as she walked up to her husband who was just entering the house.
“Well, work was fine”, Mr Ololade replied as he gave his wife a hug.

“How about Daniel and Dammy”, He asked after releasing himself from his wife.

“They are both asleep in their different rooms. Do you expect them to be awake by now”, Mrs Ololade asked.

“No, I don’t. It’s just that I want to spend time with them. I have been very occupied at work and I get home late as well. I don’t want to fail as a father. You are my wife and you are doing your responsibility as a wife. I’m their father and I ought to spend some time with them as a part of my responsibility”, Mr Ololade said as he sat down on a chair.

“My dear, I understand you. I know you love me and you love our children as well. You are not working for yourself alone, darling. You are doing your best for us too. Besides, I’m here to handle the children.

I’ve been trying my best to raise up Daniel and Dammy in the right way. I don’t pamper Dammy at all, I make sure she does most of the house chores, I also discipline her what she does something wrong. I also make sure she doesn’t feel too much of herself, so, I don’t tell her she is beautiful or intelligent. I’m trying my best, honey.

“I know dear, but, what about Daniel?”, Mr Ololade asked.

“Of course you know that I brought up Daniel up in the right way. Before he left for the university, I always made sure he did the right things. I was very harsh on him when I was bringing him up because I did want him to be a bad child. Though, I don’t spend much time to speak to them or go to check what they are doing in their rooms, I have been trying my best on them.” Mrs Ololade said.

Mrs Ololade added immediately, “Everybody can testify that I brought those children up right. They are well mannered and cultured. They don’t make noise around the house. As a matter of fact, Daniel has been very gentle since he came back from campus. Can you believe that I heard him praying to God when so was passing by his room?”

“Really? What was he praying about?, Mr Ololade asked.

“Actually, I don’t know what he was praying about, but, he was really serious with the prayer”, Mrs Ololade replied.

“Okay dear. Please make sure the children do not lack anything. If they need anything, you should tell me. Let me go for a shower now”, Mr Ololade said as he rose up from the chair.

“Not too fast, darling. I’ve already set the dining table. Let’s go to eat first”, Mrs Ololade said.

“If you insist”.

“I insist”, Mrs Ololade said and her husband laughed.

****
“Dammy, guess what?”, David asked excitedly.
