Episode 06.

Lara left the next morning for class after making noodles for breakfast , served Lora’s share on a breakable plate and dropped it on the dinning table before she locked the door to the kitchen and left for school , to join an early class . It was a rainy morning and rain was pouring in a weak drizzle .
Lara was irritated by the site of mud and waste on the gutters, making it way to the river.
“Gosh! This is disgusting.” She caused under her breathe .
“Madam you dey go campus no? ”
An Okada man asked her . She wondered if hs was crazy , for asking her such a ridiculous question under the rain, was she supposed to carry her umbrella opened on the bike ?
“Oga shift jore ! I no dey go anywhere.”
She yelled at him
“See madam no shout for me oh ! Se o ya we’re ? If you talk to me anyhow you’ll collect .”
The lawyer in her wouldn’t let her go on her way , she kept exchanging insults with the Okada man .
“Hey Lara are you going to school, or you want to start your day with a fight with an Okada man?”
Lara saw Macaulay calling her from his car , he was a son of an ex Senator, Lara was friends with him . She leapt into the front seat.

“Why were you fighting with the Okada man ?
She laughed .
” Well was trying to force me on his bike to school, why would I agree to ride on a bike under this rain? I said no the fool started insulting me .”
Lara said while closing her umbrella.
” Just be careful with those guys they’re sometimes armed .”
Macaulay said .
” Why didn’t you tell me you’re a Twin?”
Lara looked at him in surprise.
“How do you know that ?”
Macaulay focused on the road , he pretended he didn’t hear her.
“Why would you hide a fact that you have a twin sister , in the same school? You and I have been friends for three years, you never thought to inform me of your sister ? Why has she not visited our department to see you ?”
Lara got angry .
“Please Mac! I don’t want to talk about my sister , If you can’t stop this conversation pack your car and let me get down now ! ”
She was tremendously angry .
Macaulay drove silently to the law department building where he opened the door of the SUV, and Lara stepped on the wet ground and made his way to the lecture hall .

Lora work up around nine AM , she had an eleven o clock class, she went to the bathroom turned on the shower, the water sprinkled on her skin ,as the cold water bite into her bones , she ignored the noodles and egg Lara had prepared and dropped on the bed .
She had gone for the hook up three times . It was paying well, the men paid whatever price she could charge, she was classic, beautiful and Porsche.

She stopped at Santander to get coffee and bread with eggs . She ate in silence, a young man sitting at the far end was staring at her with all energy.

She finished her food and got out before he could come to her , an Uber driver was already waiting for her outside .
She was regaining her former self, for three months she had not spoken to her mum , she had not called her either , she heard when Lara would chat with their mother for hours , Lora was now self reliant , she refused to travel With Lora to Abuja for the holiday.

“Hello Lora! Hey Lora! Can I have a minute of your time ?” Macaulay ran after Lora ,but she ignored him and continued heading to the Senate building.
“Hey Lora you’re not being fair to me . What have I ever done to you ?”
Lora stopped and looked at him.
“What do you want from me Mr Macaulay? You already have Lara as your friend what do you really want? You’ve been stalking me?”
Macaulay was speechless his heart was beating like a talking drum .
” See Lora I want to be friends with you .”
Lora laughed .
” If you’re a very wise law student, a very smart one you would no that it’s not normal for twin sisters to ignore each other. I don’t want to be in the middle of your fracas with Lara. I have heard her talk about you, when she’s in a joyful mood . Please stay away from me , don’t make my strained relationship with my sister .”
This she said before she got into an Uber and drove off. The driver had driven into a pothole and splashed some dirty water on Macaulay, he cleaned his trousers up with a small towel From his pocket.

Lora was feeling feverish and her mouth was having a bitter taste , she had missed classes for two days , she didn’t like taking drugs and the sickness refused to go away .
“Lara shut the kitchen door! The odour of the fish you’re frying is killing me .”
Lara banged the door shut .
Lora ran into the bathroom vomited . While she was cleaning up Lara came to her .
“What’s it are you ok ?
Lara asked .
“What’s your business ? Mind your business.”
Lora said as she wen to her room, and she felt the strong urge to puke again, she ran into the rest room and puked .
“This is hilarious! Don’t tell me you’ve gotten pregnant again?”
Lara laughed hysterically at her twin sister , Lora walked into her room and shut the door. Her phone was ringing, she was too weak to pick , she stretched her hand and grabbed the phone.
“Hello who… Oh Demi I’m fine, I’ve been down for two days .”
Lora said Abidemi.
” Professor Hedong has been asking about you, I need to come see you, I’ve been busy with school workload , don’t worry I’m on my way now .”
Lord drifted into sleep. It was Abidemi’s knock on the door that woke her up.

“Hey Lora how are you doing? You’re looking pregnant.”
Bidemi said.
“Stop joking how can I get pregnant when I’ve been using condoms?”
Lara was by the door eavesdropping.
“You used condoms right ? Don’t you know condoms don’t offer hundred percent protection ? What if the condom had bursted while you were at it.”
It downed on her, that the condom might have bursted the first day she had gone for hook up two months ago .
” Did you see your period last month?”
Bidemi asked Lora, Lara fell into Lora’s room , why leaning on the door
“Aproko what’s your business here? Who called you here? That’s how you’ll be hearing and telling international amebo , that’s why you have no friends.”
Lara feigned to be angry, she lashed at Bidemi .
“Why can you not stay in your house? Everytime you’ll be coming to come and eat here , wretched beggar.”
Bidemi rushed at her , she ran out of the room .
“Bidemi please come Back, you guys should stop acting like Tom and Jerry, please I need tranquility to think”
Bidemi came back to meet her .
” What are we going to do Bidemi ? ”
Worried Lora said.
“No us in this o! I warned you and you refused to listen, it’s you alone that will carry it on your head .”
Lora lay on her back , she was feeling like to vomit her legs were too tired to move .
“Let’s go and get a pregnancy test kit from the pharmacy and possibly get Flu-J for your catarrh and Amartem for the fever and bitterness in your mouth, I think that’s fever .”
The two ladies went to the pharmacy to get the drugs and kit .
They came back to the lodge , Lora got into the bathroom and urinated in a disposable cup , she deeped the pregnancy test kit in it , and it showed that she was pregnant.
” I’m not going to keep this child, I don’t want a child out of wedlock.”
Lora said to Bidemi.
” But you could have sex out of wedlock?”
Bidemi asked Lora .
“For god’s sake I used a condom! If you want to keep your virginity till your wedding night, so you can gift it to your husband, I don’t judge you, I lost my virginity six years ago with Chinedu, I won’t keep this baby.”
Again Bidemi tried to talk her out but she wouldn’t listen , as a medical student she knew the right drugs to take , that Flushed her problem, she was sick for a few weeks afterwards she regained her health and was ready for the end of year exam.
