Olamide Baddo: All Olamide Solo Albums Thank Ranked High

Olamide is the MF G.O.A.T of hip-hop in Nigeria. (Assuming Mode9ine, and M.I a’int hip hop!) The 28-year-old is a veteran who has excelled, every way possible. He’s rapped. He’s sung (needless to say). He’s launched the career of many artists. Olamide’s also been consistent, delivering seven studio albums in seven years. With countless hits and Awards to back it up, he’s just a qualified G.O.A.T contender, in Nigerian hip-hop.

Out of all these, the most impressive is, seven studio albums, under his belt. Like, seven ? Uh? Some 20-year-veterans are still yet to deliver up to seven albums, but Olamide has. Cool shii!

This is a ranking of all his albums. In descending order, of course;

7. Lagos Na Wa (Wobey Sound) – 2017

It’s his latest album, dropped in November. And, there is no argument on the fact that this is his poorest effort, ever. Most of the contents on the album, were wired for the street, and TBH, this isn’t a rap album – it’s something else. He claimed to have made this album in 48 hours, which may have been true, owing to the fact that, the music altogether is bounded together by one thing “lack of content.” Only WO!, which is a perfect street-hop jam, became a hit, from the album. BUT, yeah, there we have it, Olamide’s 7th studio album; Lagos Nawa, and No. 7 on this ranking.

6. The Glory – 2016

It’s no surprise that this is the next too. The quality of Olamide’s music (not production, now), has been badly affected over the past two years.

The Glory is hip-hop, and is dope, but compared to other of his works, this is where it deserves to be placed.

Released, fall 2016, the hype was already on high, with the likes of “Who You Epp” and “Owo Blow,” already rocking the streets. And, when it finally came, it wasn’t a disappointment. And, me for one, was surprised, he actually rapped a lot on this project.

5. Baddest Guy Ever Liveth – 2013

“Baddest Guy Ever Liveth” is just one of Olamide’s numerous monikers that didn’t stick. Probably ‘cos it’s long ? We all prefer “Baddo.” Almost every song he did around that time, he must call himself Baddest Guy Ever Liveth.

This is his third studio album, and it’s very impressive. At that time, this was like a “Olamide is here to stay” disclaimer. With tracks like “Eleda Mi,” and “Turn Up,” he really took the clubs, by storm. One thing tho, he sang up a lot, here.

And, yeah, this was the album that “Durosoke” track rocked 2013.

4. Rhapsody

This is Baddo’s first project, released in 2011, under Coded Tunes. This was what announced the arrival of a New King, after Dagrin was gone.

“Eni Duro” came first, and disturbed everywhere. Then, the album came, with hot singles. Also, an array of buzzing artists were featured, including Wizkid, 9ice and Reminisce. If anything, this should be one reason ID Cabasa should be revered in this industry.

3. Street OT

This came Nov 14, 2014, as a bang! Olamide was already king here, and it was evident on the type of music he had on the album. Songs like Skelemba, on which he feature Don Jazzy, Story For The Gods, and Awon Goons Mi, quickly became instant hits, nationwide. The album also announced Lil Kesh.

2. Eyan Mayweather – 2015

“Shut down Eko Hotel, shut down Malay, shut down London, then come and tell me you be Best Rapper” Olamide ranted on the lead-track for this album; Eyan Mayweather. In 2015, on the Nigeria rap scene, Olamide was unbeatable. And, every other person getting involved issa kid. Olamide did this LP, like a pro, that he is. No pressure, just hot delivery and really hot jams. This was one of Olamide’s last days, as the darling boy of “hip hop” in Nigeria, you know.

1. Y.B.N.L (Yahoo Boy No Laptop)

If Olamide is a rapper – or was ever a rapper, this should be his best project, ever. Can anyone really argue this isn’t Olamide’s best, so far ?

Released in 2012, just when he left Coded Tunes, and was about to start his own label – YBNL Nation. The album housed some of the best Olamide rap tracks ever. Wan’ talk about “Ilefo Illuminati” ? Or Money ? Voice Of The Street ? He also went gaga on this, with tracks like Stupid Love, First Of All and Owotabua. His Industreet Cypher was bang, too. This was the album where he first met Davido on “Panumo,” having met Wizkid, the year before. Other tracks like “Jale” and “Picture,” also took their places, and rocked the streets and airwaves. In short, YBNL is Baddo’s best solo studio album, till date.

Of all the seven albums, his best is way back in 2012 – some five years ago. Wow! Olamide is a god! You’re still doubting this man’s prowess, your matter nor be here!!!
