Levante breaks Barcelona unbeaten record, clashes 5 – 4 victory
Barcelona’s 43-game unbeaten run came to an end on Sunday night, as they lost 3-1 at Levante, ensuring they don’t finish the league campaign without defeat.
The LaLiga giants were without Lionel Messi (rested), Samuel Umtiti (knee injury) and Sergi Roberto (suspension) for their penultimate league fixture.
And the hosts took advantage, racing into a two-goal lead thanks to an Emmanuel Boateng brace.
Philippe Coutinho pulled one back for Ernesto Valverde’s men before the break.
However, Levante restored their two-goal advantage immediately after the interval, after Enis Bardhi struck an absolute peach into the top-right corner from 22 yards out.
Boateng then grabbed his hat-trick in the 49th minute, before Bardhi completed his brace to make it 5-1.
Barca fought back to make it 5-4 with two goals from Coutinho and a Luis Suarez penalty. But it was not enough.
Their last fixture is at home against Real Sociedad.
