Jos Christians massively protest over herdsmen killings [Photos]

Sequel to the directive from the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, that churches nationwide should embark on a protest over the spate of killings by suspected herdsmen, members of the ECWA Goodnews Church in Jos, on Sunday, took to the streets.

Members of the Church carried out the protest after the Sunday worship service over the incessant killings by suspected Fulani herdsmen in the country and the continuous captivity of Leah Sharibu.

The over two thousand members of the congregation sang songs of Praise, while chanting ‘enough is enough’, as they join other Christian faithful across Nigeria to observe the National Day of Protest.

Rev. Joshua Tuwan of ECWA Goodnews, while addressing the members of his church said the present government had demonstrated clueless approach in stopping the killings by herdsman.

Tuwan said, “If one of the most important thing a government should do is the protection of lives and property, yet after three good years of this administration this country is still being held to ransom by a few individuals, then something is wrong.”

The Clergyman said it was unfortunate a certain group of people had decided to invade the middle belt, eliminate and kill natives on the basis of their ethnicity and faith.

“We have discovered that this problem is taking a dimension to eliminate certain group of people and these people are identified collectively by what they believe in.

“We stand to oppose and to tell the world that this government must rise up to its responsibilities and ensure that the culprits are arrested.

“We want them to be prosecuted, if this government means serious business, or else 2019 is coming. Nigerians should show them the way out.,” he said.

Tuwan expressed dismay on the continuous captivity of Leah Sharibu the only girl still held by the terrorist group who abducted the Dapchi School girls.

“We want Leah to be out, we want the Chibok girls. We do not understand what is going on in the heart of their parents. These girls were abducted because of their faith . If this government is not religious, let them produce these girls.

“We will continue to shout, let the security begin to come and start picking us up. Let’s see, if there are no citizen if there will be government,” he further stated.
