[STORY] HIS GIFT, YOUR LIFE (Episode 03)

Episode 03.

“No no can we go later? I mean I have something to do and deliver right away” Simeon said stopping his friend.

“Okay fine take your time, I’ll come to pick you up at 6 pm, is okay with you?” His friend asked and a call came on Simeon’s phone which he picked up immediately.

“Hello, Simeon speaking” he picked up.

“Yea sure I’m available, what time?” Simeon asked.

“Okay sure, call me when you’re ready with the location,” Simeon said.

“Thank you, bye,” Simeon said dropping the call.

“Got a job?” His friend asked.

“Just a photo shoot section” Simeon replied.

“With chikina money right? Too bad” his friend said.

“At least it’s better than none” Simeon said and his friend touched his shoulder.

“I’ll pick you up at 6,” his friend said and left.

Simeon heaved looking outside as he watched his friend’s car drive away. That car cost millions of money and he began to imagine his family in such a car and as he will be taking them out with it. Money is sweet and he wants such luxurious life for his family but the fact remains that his photography work can never give him that in years.

He left the door and sat down to continue with his editing work, and after some minutes he heard his wife cursing as she approached the house. He stopped what he was doing to listen attentively and she got in with her gown stained with dirt.

“What happened? Who are you talking to?” He asked.

“Is it not one reckless driver like that, look at what he did to me. He saw the loophole very well but it was that time I was passing he drove in speed and splashed all the dirt on my body and drove away like that, not even a sorry!” His wife shouted and he breathed out.

“Sorry about that, you know we have crazy people roaming about,” Simeon said.

“Just look at my clothes because he has a car, I don’t blame him,” his wife said and hissed.

“Don’t worry I’ll buy you a car so that no one will splash dirt on you again” Simeon heard himself say and his wife looked at him and burst out laughing.

“Don’t add to my anger please, what do you mean by that? You’ll buy me a car how? Have you paid for my friend’s loan?” She asked.

“I don’t understand, can’t you be positive for once?” Simeon asked.

“Positive ke? It was my friend’s place I returned from and had this embarrassment because I was pleading with her, this is all your fault!” His wife shouted and got in and Simeon rolled his eyes.

“Things will be better and I can still buy you a car okay if I get a good job. I’m sorry okay!” Simeon shouted from the sitting room.

“Swallow it!” She replied from inside.

At exactly 6 pm Simeon was outside with his children helping out with their homework and his friend drove in.
“Hey cuties,” his friend said carrying the last of his child.

“Welcome,” Simeon coldly said not happy to see him knowing what he was coming for.

“Thank you, busy?” His friend asked keeping down his child and his wife came out.

“Ahhh welcome” she greeted.

“Thank you, please can I take your husband out for a few minutes? I promise I’ll bring him back not drunk” his friend said.

“That’s not funny,” Simeon said.

“No problem, but immediately?” She asked.

“Yes please, but we’ll be back as soon as possible” his friend replied.

“Okay, I’ll cover the food for you. I came out to tell you the food is ready” his wife said and Simeon looked confused.

“Can’t I eat first? I mean I’m very hungry and I don’t eat late at night ” Simeon said.

“Okay I understand, I’ll be back soon,” his friend said and drove off again and Simeon took his family inside. His wife kept looking at Simeon as he ate then she cleared her throat.

“Is there anything you’re not telling me?” She finally asked.

“You mean?” He asked.

“About this friend of yours, after the night you got home drunk he keeps visiting and he always takes you out, but in all this, you don’t come home with money. Can’t you ask him for help?” She asked and Simeon dropped the spoon and looked at her.

“Because he is rich I should beg him for money or cry before him right?” Simeon asked.

“At least tell him to give you a job is he not your friend again?” She asked back.

“Does he look like a manager to you? He’s a businessman” he replied.

“Okay fine, why are you two always going out?” She asked

“None of your business” he replied and continued to eat.

“None of my business you say? Yet you two go out every day, what do you mean by that? Will it be fair if I go out the same way with my friends and not let you know about it?” She asked.

“I’ve never stopped you or have I? Please let me finish this food” he replied and his wife scoffed and left the room to go see her children.

Minutes later his friend returned and gave a horn and Simeon came out dressed and looked at his wife,
“I’ll be back soon,” he said and left and drove off with his friend.

His friend took him to a bar rather and ordered drinks for him,
“This is not what you took me out from the house right?” Simeon asked as his friend gave him a glass.

“Calm your nerves with this and act like a big man you are, don’t worry the bills are on me” his friend replied and Simeon breathed out.

“My wife has began to ask questions, by the way, how will this money come? Will it rain or what knowing I don’t have a job” Simeon said and his friend laughed.

“Guy you worry a lot” his friend replied.

“Will you blame me because I’ve been thinking about this thing? People will ask questions when I suddenly get rich” Simeon said rubbing his head and gulping down a glass of drink while his friend smiled and poured another glass for him.

“Relax and I understand you, but don’t forget you’re not alone in this. I am there for you and nothing will go wrong trust me” his friend said…….
