Alarm Clock Wake Up

Are you a morning person? Lucky are those who wake up without any problem. Truth is, you really should wake up early. This simple routine has more benefits than you can imagine. It works really great for both your body and mind. Even science says so!

10 science-backed reasons to wake up early

Hal Elrod says we should wake up early to make our dreams come true instead of just sleeping and dreaming.

1. Peace and silence have no price

A study on NCBI confirmed that waking up early means you wake up before anything else. There are no traffic noises, loud chats, music and shouting. You can enjoy this time of the day in peace and silence, and that doesn’t have a price.

This gives you a perfect opportunity to listen to yourself. How far do your thoughts go? Take a deep breath and relax. You can even read a book or just sit by the window with a cup of tea.

Silence moments have great impact on your body, especially your brain:

  • High oxygen levels
  • Low blood pressure
  • No migraines
  • Improved mental health

2. Plan and organize

Spending some time without others talking or cars honking gives you enough quality time to plan your daily activities. This is the perfect time to organize you day and make a to-do list.

Being organized can actually help you cope with stress. You have everything planned, and there’s no room for stress. Without this organization, you will lose yourself in the chaos of the day.

3. It’s breakfast time!

Prepare your delicious meal. Yes, you have enough time to cook something or make your favorite sandwich. Oats? Why not.

You should never ever skip breakfast, because it’s the king of all meals. Don’t substitute it for unhealthy snacks packed with sugar and additives.

We have listed some of the benefits of a healthy breakfast:

  • Boosts metabolism
  • Improves focus
  • Gives you energy
  • Lowers bad (LDL) cholesterol
  • Lowers the risk of heart disease and diabetes
  • Helps you maintain proper weight
  • Fixes your body rhythm
  • Boosts your mood and positive thinking

4. Improved brain function

Set your alarm early to clear your fogginess. Christopher Randler, a biology professor from Germany’s University of Education, explains that waking up early optimizes your brain function.

It improves your critical thinking and problem-solving skills. You will be much funnier and creative. In other words, you will perform better and maybe you will finally get that promotion. It’s worth the effort, right?

5. More energy

You are probably grumpy in the morning. But, you should definitely go to bed and wake up early to restore your body. Deep-sleep cycles assist this process.

Benefits of deep-sleep cycles:

  • High blood supply in muscles
  • Tissue repair
  • Bone repair
  • Cellular correction
  • Excretion of growth hormones to build muscle
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Relaxed body

6. You’re attractive!

Yes, our society is based on looks. Waking up late makes you groggy and you look terribly tired. It’s time to change your sleep schedule. A study by the University of Stockholm confirmed that the more tired you look, the less attractive you will appear.

Morning people have low body mass indices. Yes, size has nothing to do with beauty, but if you are trying to lose weight, it’s time to set up your alarm clock.

7. Good grades

This one is for the students. Change your studying routine and wake up early. Waking up a few hours earlier than usual may help you improve your grades as confirmed by studies conducted in Europe and America.

Morning people have good grades and higher average GPA. It’s all about the time management and improved concentration and focus.

8. Good sleep

Plan your sleep routines. Waking up early helps you with that. Stick to a steady sleep schedule, and don’t make excuses to step out of it.

Go to sleep and wake up early to improve your night’s sleep. Don’t change your routine, and help your body adjust its internal clock. Once this clock is glued to the routine, it will work in favor of your goals and dreams. You will fall asleep easy, and you will wake up even easier.

9. High productivity

A study released in the Journal of General Psychology in 2008 confirmed that morning people procrastinate less than those who stay up late in the night. Wake up early to fix your discipline and focus, and thereby improve your productivity.

Morning people are more persistent and complete tasks with ease.

Early waking has incredible effect on your productivity:

  • Recharged brain set up for work
  • No distractions and more finished tasks
  • Planning and organization
  • High energy
  • Good mood

10. Improved mental health and positive thinking

Wake up early to boost your mental health. If you like to sleep a little longer in the morning, you should better know that this increases your risk of depression and other mental conditions.

A study released in the Cognitive Therapy and Research journal confirmed that those who sleep later and wake up early have a high risk of “drowning” in negative thoughts.

If you spend the night with your eyes open, it’s time to set up your alarm clock. Wake up early to relieve your mind and think positively.

Final Note:

Practice is always better than theory, so it’s time to give this a try. Wake up early, and have a breakfast or even coffee if you like drinking coffee in the morning.

Next, plan your day, and check all the tasks you have pending. Do you have enough time? If you have an extra half hour, do a light workout. You will feel a lot better!

Do the same again, and try waking up early for a week. I promise, you will feel like a new person. This tiny change in your daily routine will transform your life completely.
