10 EFFECTIVE WAYS TO OVERCOME HEARTBREAK AFTER BREAK UP

Published

Share this post:

One of the toughest things one can encounter in relationships is heartbreak. It is hard to get over someone who was an integral part of your life  You find yourself stuck in a rut, hoping to get out but not really wanting to. But it is definitely harder to see them move on like everything you shared meant nothing to them. If it is easy for them, it can be easier for you too.

You can’t just stay locked in that cage. You need to get up, pick back your life and live!
Usually, I tell people “you can end a relationship without hurting the other person. It’s possible and less heartbreaking.” But the world is full of self-centred beings who care about nobody other than themselves. Going about dishing plates of heartbreak to others like its pizza.

However, if you’re caught in this mess, probably wondering if you’ll ever be whole again, obsessing over them, who they are with, where they are and how much fun they are having without you. Maybe even hoping you’d get back together.  But that’s not a healthy way to live. You deserve to be happy but you don’t need a partner to be happy.

Fortunately, I’ve great news for you! Yes, you can be whole again and even better but you got to want to be.
So.., Here are some steps you need to take

1. SHED THOSE TEARS

Don’t deny that you’re heartbroken. You might choose to not tell anyone but don’t lie to yourself. Don’t hold the tears back, let them flow. You’re hurt and your heart is simply expressing how it feels. Cry over what you both shared, over the good memories. It helps in removing the ice surrounding your heart.

2. ACKNOWLEDGE IT’S OVER

It’s happened, it’s over. As much as you want it all to be a dream you can wake up from, it can’t happen. Don’t lie to yourself. The End of a chapter is the End of that chapter.
It failed yes, but it wasn’t utterly your fault. It takes two persons to keep a relationship. So stop thinking of the things you could have done to make it better.

3. CUT OFF CONTACT

Don’t call them for whatever reason not even to check up on them. Get used to it, it’s over.  Get rid of everything that reminds you of them, such as phone numbers, pictures, gifts, music and so on. However, you might not need to destroy these things except the person was a really really bad influence. You might need to save some memories.

4. HANGOUT WITH FRIENDS

Friends, what can we do without them? Nothing!
Call up your best friends and have fun with them. Now that you’re free and not dating, call those friends you’ve neglected for a while. Go out on a date, to a movie, to the beach, just do something that’s fun and takes your mind away from your ex. And try as much as possible not to bring it up during the fun. And avoid your ex’s friends even if they are good people.

5. AVOID RUN-INS

If it’s possible to move away/relocate, please do. Avoid situations that will make you make contact in person. And when you see them, don’t look at them.

6. GET BUSY

don’t just sit there.get up and do something, anything. register at the gym, start a project, form new hobbies. Remember those places you always wanted to visit when you had the time? What are you doing now? visit them. Lying on the couch daily will only make you resent yourself.

7. GIVE YOURSELF SOMETIME

Maybe you’ve done all these things and still experience some down times. it’s totally okay. The change won’t happen overnight. So give yourself some time. And please don’t rush into a new relationship so soon. Give yourself time to perfectly heal. When all the anger, hurt, bitterness and sadness soften, you can consider it. but take it slow.

8. LET GO OF THE PAST

We’ve all had things happen to us that we would rather forget. The more you dwell on them, the more they hurt. Let go of the people who are no longer in your life, move on. You can’t possibly move forward if you’re still thinking about your last failed relationship.

Rather, think of what it has taught you and learn from it.

9. GET A COACH

Find yourself a coach other than your best friend. It might hurt them but you need someone who will not sugar-coat the truth because they don’t want to hurt you. Get someone who is an actual relationship coach to avoid repeating the same mistakes again.

10.PREPARE FOR THE NEXT RELATIONSHIP

Get your heart in place but expect two things; it might turn out well or it might end in heartbreak. So prepare for it.
Also, when a new partner arrives, give them a new slate. Don’t judge them by the actions of your ex.Give them a chance to be themselves.
Recovering from a heartbreak is hard but you can do it and once you do, life is easier and better.
Remember, you deserve to be happy, don’t let a failed relationship take that way from you.
