Yakubu Dogara derides Gov Abubakar over derogatory comments
Yakubu Dogara, Speaker, House of Representatives, has derided Governor of Bauchi State and governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, over perceived derogatory comments allegedly made against him and his constituency last year.
The governor was quoted as saying Dogara was a “lightweight politician” and that he did not need votes from his constituency to be re-elected as governor of Bauchi State.
The speaker who was flanked by Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Bala Mohammed, and other party elders at NUJ secretariat in Bauchi, said, he would mobilise his constituency against the governor in the re-run election to be held at Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area on a yet-to-be-announced date.
“Recently, the governor told the whole world that I am a lightweight politician and that he doesn’t need votes from my constituency to be re-elected as governor of Bauchi state. He said he won his 2015 election with over 300,000 votes and so he doesn’t need votes from my constituency. Let’s see how he will come to campaign in Tafawa Balewa after downgrading us,” Dogara said.
Reacting, Chairman of APC in the state, Uba Ahmed Nana, debunked Dogara’s allegations, saying in his party “every vote matters.”
