Transfer: Tottenham Hunts For Serie A Star

Last season was a real disappointment for the north London side as they battled issues both on and off the pitch through the campaign.

Despite Jose Mourinho coming in to take the club forward, Spurs were only able to secure a top six finish in the league.

That meant that they had fallen short of their expectations of qualifying for the Champions League.

A spot in the Europa League ensured that the season wasn’t a total disaster, but they’re under no illusions that this season must be better.

Daniel Levy has tasked Mourinho with returning the club to title contention and that has meant that making moves in the transfer market is a must.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart and Matt Doherty were all brought in for relatively low sums, but their business isn’t done yet.

The next step for Tottenham is surely to bring in a new striker to challenge Harry Kane, however that’s going to be easier said than done.

One player who the club has been linked with is Andrea Belotti.

Reports from Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio have suggested that Spurs lodged a loan offer to bring to Torino frontman to London which was rejected.

It’s suggested that Tottenham wanted the deal to be a short-term agreement with the option to sign him for £46.3million.

However the Italian side would entertain the offer if a permanent deal was mandatory.

Valued at £31.5million by Transfermarkt, the 26-year-old scored 22 goals last term in an impressive campaign.

Belotti also has a £92.6million release clause in his deal, however there’s an acceptance from Torino that the player could never command such a fee.
