[STORY] THE OTHER MAN (Episode 06)

Episode 06.

My husband stood up and walked away from me. That night, my husband didn’t sleep in the room, he slept in the other room. For the first time in my life as a married woman, I cried myself to sleep.

I woke up in the middle of the night and saw my husband sitting on his study chair with his head bent on the table. I went closer to him and saw that he was weeping profusely, I went into the toilet and sat on the closest crying and wondering who was behind the video. To the best of my knowledge, it didn’t offend anyone so who would want to destroy my home.

For days, my husband didn’t talk to me, it was like I never existed. The only thing he kept on doing was dropping money on the dressing table for me. Whenever I tried to talk to him, he will simply ignore or give me a bad glare hence, I had to always keep to myself. I suddenly became afraid of being with him in the same room.

Some weeks later, My husband come home and started throwing my things out with the claim that he is no longer interested in me, and to make things worst, he called our unborn baby a bastard. He asked me to take the child to its father.

I asked if he had forgotten that I came to his bed undefiled and he replied that I wasn’t a virgin, I only pretended to be one. I went close to him in anger and bit his right arm till it started bleeding.

He pushed me away in anger and I hit my head on the cushion. I ignored the bleeding and went after him, the awful statement he made unleashed the demon in me. That day was bloody as we gave each other injuries, I didn’t even think about the fact that I was pregnant, I just wanted to give him a deep scar which I did by hitting my heel on his forehead.

After much struggle, he overpowered me and threw me out of the house with my things. With tears in my eyes and injuries on my body, I left the house with my things. With the little money with me, I was able to travel down to Lagos to meet my sister.

Getting to my sister’s house, she was so surprised to see me looking sad and unkempt. I left my things at the doorstep and went into the living room to sit down, she wheeled my traveler’s bag into the living room.

Tolani: what happened to you Teni? Why are there so many bruises on your body?

Me: that Victor is a bastard and he will never make it in life

Tolani: will you shut up there, why are you laying a curse on your husband?

Me: he is a beast and I repeat that he would never prosper in life except if he isn’t the one responsible for my pregnancy.

Tolani: Teni??

Me: please let me be, all I want now is to sleep

I woke up the following day and was served breakfast in bed by my sister. Done with breakfast, she asked me to tell her all that happened between my husband and I which I did without wasting time.

While narrating it to her, I was very sober that I couldn’t stop shedding tears.

Tolani: let’s give him a week then I will go with you to see him and apologize

Me: I don’t want to go, I didn’t wrong him

Tolani: you may be right but we need to apologize for your home to be preserved. Do you want people to start saying that the marriage of two sisters got broken almost at the same time?

Me: I don’t care about what people say

Tolani: stop acting like a child Teni I am beginning to think we are the ones with the problem because I still can’t comprehend why our marriages will break almost at the same time

Me: we have no problem, the truth is that we got entangled with stupid men, I am beginning to feel I made a mistake marrying Victor

Tolani: remember how loving and caring he has been
