Episode 16.

I pulled into the parking lot and turned off my ignition.
“Thank you Jesus!” I breathed down in relief. It was my first time driving into the school. I had a little bit of first timer’s fear.

I took my purse and stepped out. As soon as I shut the door, I saw Mr George watching me. I didn’t know he was there. He had this shock on his face that refused to disappear.
Oga George, you never see anything.

“I walked up to him to say hello. Of course na. My keys dangling in my fingers.
“Good morning sir!” I greeted politely with a smile.
He looked at me and then to the car behind me.
“Look at me sir, I’m over here!” I said inwardly.
‘Who owns that ride?” He asked.
“Oh! That’s mine!” I said casually.
I saw the colour of his face change. He looked at me with angry eyes and nodded.

“Seems like you are doing fine without your salary. What’s keeping you here? He asked.
“I gave you my word. I told you I would never tender a resignation letter and I will keep my word. I also told you that you would be the one to give me a sack letter”.
“So let me guess! I’m the one keeping you here?” He asked bluntly.
“If that is how you see it”, I answered.
He chuckled.

“Then, I must be really lucky to have free workers like you. May I remind you that I promised never to fire you. Do you remember I promised you?” He asked.
I smiled and looked at him.
“My memories are completely retentive. I don’t need your reminder”.
“Good! So get to work!” He said pointing towards the staffs building.

“Don’t forget I told you that you would be the one to sack me. I guess you would be doing that very soon”, I grinned.
He looked at me with a frown.
“What gives you such confidence?” He asked.
“No more fun for you!” I said and hurried off.
I looked back at him and saw the confusion on his face. But I was not ready to start explaining myself.

“I never lose Susan! Do you hear me? You would serve me for the rest of your life!” He yelled after me.
“God forbid!” I said to myself.
“Rather you would lose to my Jesus and serve him”, I added.
Classes went on as usual. I had been about my duties when Tara, one of my new converts came to meet me.
“Susan please forgive me!” She pleaded.

I was struck with fear. What has she done? Why is she asking for my forgivenesss?
“What happened?” I asked.
“Mr George is so mad and he wants to see you”, she said with pleading eyes.
George is so mad! Who cares? Let him do fast and fire me. Infact, Holy Ghost, teach me all those things that can easily get him angry so he can get me fired”, I said within me.
“But how does Mr George getting angry has anything to do with you?” I asked her.
“I was too careless. He asked me to join him in his car after closing hours. I knew what he meant and told him I was not going to comply.

He asked why and I told him Miss Susan invited me to her house and preached to me. She told me to stop my immoral lifestyle and I agreed. So I’m sorry I can’t”.
I saw the fear in her eyes.

“I was so stupid. I should have told him I was born again and reconciled back to God. I knew he was going to laugh at me if I said that. I was too scared to tell him my new identity. I just offered you as a Lamb.
He got angry and screamed that I leave. As I left, he ordered me to send for you. I’m so sorry!”
I smiled.
“That’s okay! I know how to handle Mr George. It’s not my first time. Cheer up sis!”
I patted her on the sholder and drew her close. I look into her eyes.
“The Lord is so proud of you!”

Those words lifted her Spirit. I saw the sadness in her eyes fading away.
“But I got you into trouble!” She sa worriedly.
“Relax my dear, God is in control”, I grinned.
I hugged her and left for Mr George’s office.
I knocked and entered.

“Susan what is wrong with you?” He asked fumming with anger.
I smiled and say down like a princess.
“Good afternoon sir!” I greeted calmly.
He looked at me for a while and sighed.
I grinned broadly and saw how it angered him.
“So this is your handwork?” He asked.
“Sir! Please I’m a free teacher. Allow me do my job!” I smiled.
“So you are spreading your virus? Infecting everyone in this place, right? He asked.

“Not virus sir. I’m actually spreading the light of Jesus and chasing away the darkness of immorality in this place”, I said.
“Enough!” He said and stood up abruptly.
“You are not allowed to preach in this school. You must not preach your useless religion to any staff in this school. You will not be permitted to hold prayer meetings with the students anymore”.
“Or what?” I interupted.
He paused and looked into my eyes.
“You’ll seize my salary or what? Fire me?” I smiled.

“No you won’t fire me. You promised not to. So I’m left with one option. I’ll be the second boss here and turn this place upside down”.
I saw the shock in his eyes. He looked at me and was completely blank.
I chuckled and stood up.
“Mr George! Get ready to seize more salaries and get richer. But I promise you one thing. You’ll never get my sisters in Christ on your bed of immorality ever again”, I said with red eyes.
He clapped his hands in mockery.
I smiled watching him.

“Sisters in Christ! Rubbish! The same ones who climbed my bed to retain their jobs. Do you deserve to call them sisters? Ive got a better name for them. Harlots, prostitutes, fools, cheap women”.
“Sorry sir, but I disagree with you. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
So I’ll call them, the redeemed, the justified, the purified, the…
He picked up a book and threw it at me. I raised my hands to my face in defence, shielding myself.
I moved back and stood at a distance.

“George, why are you doing this to yourself?” You know he’s there! You hear his voice! Why do you harden your heart?” I asked.
I was shocked by what I saw in his eyes. Tears! Oh my God! Was he crying? I took a step forward and the Devil in him resurfaced.
“Get out!” He screamed.

I moved back. I wanted to say one or two things, but I felt the Holy Ghost nudging me to leave. I opened the door and met 4 of our staffs eavesdropping.
I smiled and placed a finger on my lips.
They all grinned at me and dispatched to their various duties.
I laid my hand on the door of Mr George’s office and prayed.
“Lord! He’s one of your lost sheep. I have sowed the seed, go and continue from where I have stopped”.
