[STORY] THE POOR GIRL (Episode 12)

Episode 12.

Henry couldn’t think straight as all his thoughts was on melody. It’s obvious that he loved her so much before he had to say his mind to her. Melody at the end was not thinking that much about Henry cause she was not ready for anything called relationship.

#7:00pm (Same day)

The night was a scary one as there was no moon talkless of electric light were melody and her parents live, the sound of the crickets and other insects that always walks in the night was heard which added to it gloomliness. Suddenly the cloud turned from normal to an unpleasant one as it began to make some heavy noise and lightening began flashlight thus making people to understand that there’s going to be an heavy downpour. That was the worst thing Mr Armstrong was expecting.

Soon it began drizzling and melody had to gather buckets to place at the licking area in the house, but to me it was of no use because of the big gap the zinc had. The rain finally came down as an heavy one with thunder and lightening, the room was no longer pleasant again for anyone to step his or her feet in there as the water floods in the house Mr Armstrong thus giving them stress to scop the water away.

It was so heartbreaking to see that there was no place in the house that had no lickage, even where they use to sleep water took over all the place. Melody watched as her parents were struggling to make sure the water is gone, the tears that was formed in her eyes finally dropped as she cried for the condition of her parents thus giving her the challenge to study hard so as to be the one that will change her parents condition.

The night was so cold for Mrs Armstrong, a poor woman like her and she began shivering, Melody who was watching shook her head as she hand over a blanket to her. Mr Armstrong walked to his wife and then embrace her to help her feel a little warm.

“Mom, dad you have done enough you have to rest now”melody said

“My daughter there’s no resting for us tonight, it’s better you rest so that you won’t be late to school tomorrow”Mrs Armstrong said out of motherly love.

“No mom, I insist you both should rest and I handle it myself “Melody said

“My daughter where are we going to sleep because the water has taken everywhere ”

“I already thought of that earlier before I said you should rest, you guys should to the church the door is always open go and sleep there till tomorrow. Then I will sleep here “Melody said praying her parents agree to that.

“Your mom alone can go, I will stay back with you and……

Melody didn’t allow him to finish his speech thus she interrupted.

“Dad you can’t let your wife go alone, follow her”

“Okay, I will take her there and then come back for the night “Mr Armstrong said.

“No dad, I will handle it. You both should go.

After so much of arguments Mr Armstrong decided to go and sleep in the church with his wife.

It was an heavy task for melody to do all the water drilling alone. The rain didn’t want to stop as it kept increasing it’s water, the house was filled with water already as melody sweep it out and scoop it out with a bowl.

Someone who saw melody at that moment will surely know that she’s passing through a lot for her to be doing such talkless of Amanda ranting her mouth and also treating her bad.

Melody was still scooping out water and the door was locked from inside when she heard a knock on it, she wondered whether its her dad that stubbornly came back. She stood up and walked to the door then twist it open. To her greatest shock and surprise there stood before her Henry with two umbrella and rain coat on his body and one in his hand. Melody didn’t understand what was happening at that moment, the question that was running through her mind was “how did Henry get to know my place?” and there was no answer to her question yet. Melody stood there affixed as unmovable figure and Henry too knew that she’s really shocked to see him in the rain in their compound.
Without time wasting Henry finally speak up

“I know you are shocked but I came to help you ”

“But I didn’t asked for help and……

“Shhhhhhh”Henry placed his hands on her mouth preventing her from saying anything.

“I came to understand that there are people who always need help and you are one of them ”

Melody was really stunned as she was contemplating whether to let him in to help her out or to send him back.

“Sorry Henry I don’t need your help “she said and Henry didn’t agree to that as they keep on exchanging words, just then she remembered that the water is increasing in the house, without thinking twice she ran back to the house and Henry didn’t hesitate he ran in also.

Henry had to do the work also as he helped melody who was so doom at that moment seeing Henry a guy from a rich family suffering for them.

She looked at him from the corner of her eyes while they still battling with the water and discovered that he was doing it with all sincerity.
