[STORY] NIGHTCLUB CHRONICLES (Episode 01)

Episode 01.

It was a boring Friday. It was 9:00 PM and I was reclining on a sofa, watching on a giant TV ,Wolf Blitzer of CNN talking to Dr Anthony Fauci about the deadly Coronavirus. My phone was charging beside me and from time to time, I went to check if it had finished charging. Not that the phone wouldn’t notify me when it was done charging. I was just impatient.

I had just left the sofa to go check my phone went it rang. I picked immediately. The voice on the other end was that of a female.
“You picked the call as if you were waiting” She said.
“Yeah” I said, laughing. “I had the phone in my hand when the call came in.”
“How are you doing today?” She asked.
“Good and you?”
“Perfect”

It was Tercy, my younger sister’s friend. I wondered why she was calling at that time. We hadn’t talked in a while.
“What’s your program this night?” She asked.
“I am home. Watching CNN.”
“You and CNN, it’s only death that will pull you guys apart.”

We laughed.

“I want us to go clubbing this night.” She continued. “Are you in?”
“Of course I am. But I don’t have money. I am very down on my luck these days.” I told her.
“Don’t worry. It’s taken care of. I will take care of the bills.” She announced.
“Wow!!!” I exclaimed. “Who have you been scamming recently?” I joked.
“Foolish boy.” She joked. “I came into some small money yesterday. I want us to go grind it.”
“Ok. Where are you right now?” I asked.
“Home. Preparing to go out.”
“Give me ten minutes. I have bathed already. Let me put on an outfit worthy of nightclub business” I told her.
“Ok, hurry”
“Bye for now.”

I ran into the bedroom and put on a shiny white T Shirt, a pair of blue ripped jeans, white sneakers and since it was a cold night, a grey fitting jacket. I brushed my hair and combed my beard to perfection. I sprayed so much perfume that I almost choked on it.

I was out of the house now, going towards the road hoping to catch a cab when my phone rang again. It was Tercy.
“Small boy, what is taking you so long?”
“Learn to have respect for your elders.” I shot back.
“Get out! Who is an elder? Please hurry or have you changed my mind?” She asked.
“Am I mad to change my mind when I know I won’t be spending a dime?” I said, laughing.
“You see, one day “njoh” will get stuck in your throat.” She joked.
“Massa forget, where are you now?” I asked.
“At our junction. Looking for a cab.”
“Alright. Just hold on. I am coming with a cab to pick you up.” I said.
“A cab? What happened to your car?”
“My instincts have told me not to take it out tonight. Don’t worry, I will be fine” I assured her.

Five minutes later, I was at her junction only to realize that she wasn’t there. I called her phone and she told me she was still home. I couldn’t believe my ears. Why would all women be the same? They never finish on time. I paid the cabbie and asked him to leave. As I was going towards her house, I saw her approaching the junction. I was angry because of her delay. However, my anger disappeared immediately when I saw how she was dressed.

She was wearing a very short red gown and high heeled shoes. Her hairdo was superb and her perfume was heavenly. Her make up seemed to have been done by a professional make up artist. From the size of her breasts, I suspected she wasn’t having a bra on. She moved towards me and we hugged. I held her a minute too long. I didn’t want to let her go.

Ten minutes later. We were in front of Double Dose. It was the best club in town. We swaggered towards the entrance and were met by two heavily muscled bouncers. They used their metal detectors to see if we had any weapons. They found none. We got inside and went straight to the VIP section.
