ESTHER MY LANDLORD’S DAUGHTER - ANE Story

Episode 13.

I woke up to find my self in a hospital bed with a bandage tied around my head. I could barely remember what really happened and why I’m here or even got here.

What’s going on, I asked a female nurse whom I saw, walking pass me.

Oh, your awake, she exclaimed. Thank God your alive, she added.

What really happened to me, I asked in a confused state.

Well the info we received was that you got into a fight between two girls who we heard really loves you, one shot at you, while the other ran immediately you were shot, she explained. It’s more than a miracle your alive, she added.

So how did I get here, I futher asked.

A young lady brought you here, we asked for her name, but she said she’s just your favorite reader and also she’s family, The nurse said. She even paid for all expenses and hospital bills, she added.

I sighed. My mind kept thinking who’ll be that favorite reader, could it be utomi, no utomi has never called me. Could it be my Marine friend To mi, or Christian or damilola, George maabern, or bello, Michael ama, or opeyemi, patience zidyep or damrex, could it *be my Liberian friend, no na she’s at Liberia. After all this heavy thinking, my mind went straight to Precious, yes it ~could be her, because she’s the only reader i know who checks up on me.
Oh what will she be thinking, now that she knows what happened, I guess she’ll be so disa* ppointed. What about~ my other readers, what will they be thinking now about me when they get to hear this.

Relax, the nurse said, as if she was reading my mind. Everything is gonna be okay, she added, standing up.

But *everything happened so quickly, I couldn’t even get a moment to *think and boom I was shot, and not by criminals, but by someone who claims she really loves me, I explained to the nurse.
I know how you feel, but let me give you an advi* ce, she said. No matter who your with, and how much they claim they lo* ve you, always have it at the back of your mind that a day will come when they’ll f**k you up, she added.
Know this and know peace, she said, before leaving.

I relaxed and reflected through her words, and the deep truth hit me deep.
She was absolutely right, everything is my fault, if only I had stayed back the first day I wanted going to Nelly’s house, all this wouldn’t have happened.
Now see what being too friendly has put me into.
I was in a state of regrets, what will my mom say, what about my two brothers and my only sister, that I was shot by a girl, what if I had died.

I cried bitterly, feeling frustrated. I was still crying when I felt a cold hand on my leg. I was really startled I opened my eyes and saw it Daisy.

Your finally awake, she said. I thought I’d lose you, she added.

You brought me here, I asked.

Yes I did, she said. I was with a friend passing your street when I said I should drop by and greet you, only to come and find you outside your house in a pool of blood, she added.

Thank my so much Daisy, I said.

You don’t have to, just that one conversation I had with you change my life, so see this as a way of me returning the favor, she said, standing up.
They said I should get you something to eat,I’ll be back soon, she added, before leaving.

It wasn’t up to five minutes when Daisy had left,I saw Precious. She was holding a bag with food flask in it. she came and sat down beside me.

I’m sorry it took me so long to get here, but you’ll be fine, here I brought you some food, she said.

The was something that was quite fishy about her, though she brought me food, I could feel how less concerned she was.

She opened the food flask, grabbing a spoon from the bag and began feeding me. I hadn’t even eaten up to ten spoons when I started feeling sleepy.

She smiled when she saw I was dozing.

What are you laughing and what’s happening to me, I asked her.

Don’t worry, soon you’ll be fine, she said bringing out a sharp knife from the bag she put the food flask. She raised the knife up.

If I can’t have you no one else can have you, i mean no one, she said, bringing down the knife with great speed.

No,no, please no, before I could finish my sentence the knife pierced through my chest directly into my heart.

I gasped, my breathe slowed down, everything started fading in my eyes till it went blank. In a moment I felt myself leaving my body. I saw myself looking at myself, just laying down there on the hospital bed lifeless.

To be continued… . . .
