[STORY] DELILAH (Episode 04)

Episode 04.

I didn’t waste time to tell Patricia about my new girlfriend. She was surprised as well and congratulated me, but Usman was not concerned at all.
“Which kind bad belle you get? Or na because say I get fine babe? Your jealousy dey smell abeg, i said to him.
“Me jealous? Shey I no get wetin to carry my jealousy do? Usman asked and I just parked him one side.

One night I returned home to see Patricia waiting at the door for me,
“What’s wrong? I asked.
‘Just come in, she replied letting me in first and I saw the house so untidy.

“Oh this? I asked.
‘This? What’s going on in my house? Everyday I come home and see it so messed up! She shouted.

“Hey mind your tone, you’re not talking to a cleaner okay, I said.
“Oh really? I sweep this house every morning before going to work, so what are you talking about? Who do you bring to this house when I am away! She shouted.

“Look Patricia for the fact that I am squatting with you does not give you the right to start raising your voice on me, are you insane! I shouted back.
“Its the person you do bring to this house that is insane! By the way which normal human being can behave this way? Fix my house! She shouted and took her hand bag and left the house probably to sleep at her friend place.

I heaved and cleaned my face looking around the room and truly it was messed up. Loveth actually met me at my business premises and asked of the house key because she wanted relaxing at home. I gave her the key followed with a wrap of sharwama and a can coke which was just littered in the room for me. I took my phone and dialed her number,
“Hey babe, home now? Loveth picked up.

“Yea, babe you should know I don’t live here alone, my sister stays with me, I said.
“Okay so? She asked.

“You messed up the house and its not right, I replied.
“I did? Oops that was not intentional, she said.

“Don’t make it happen again please, I said.
“Alright, so how was sales? She asked and I just smiled and fell on the bed talking with her.

Two days later Loveth came back asking for the keys again. I didn’t want trouble so I told her to keep me company,
“I know babe but I’m feeling dizzy, I want to rest my head, she said.
“Sorry about that, I’ll meet you later at home okay, I said giving her the key.

“Alright, she said and left.
After about an hour when my stand was free, I begged Usman to watch for me and I went home to see how Loveth was doing, but I heard noise inside and it was Loveth with Patricia.
“What’s going on here? I asked confused.

“Oh thank God you’re here. Please help me tell your dirty girlfriend to get out of my house! Patricia shouted.
“Excuse me! Do you realize you’re talking with my girlfriend? I asked.

“And so what? A girlfriend that can’t flush the toilet after use is that a girlfriend? Patricia asked.
“What insult is this? And what house is she talking about? Loveth asked and I just rubbed my head.

“Since you can’t respect yourself in my house, never you come here again to mess it up. Even if its my brother own, will you come here eating smoked fish and scattering the bones everywhere? Patricia asked and that was when I saw it.
“You’re worried about that huh? Yet Patrick is the one washing your laundry and cooking for you, you’re so shameless! Loveth shouted back and Patricia slapped her and Loveth returned it back twice.

“How dare you! Patricia screamed out to hold her for a fight but I went in immediately,
“Enough of all this! Can’t we be matured for once! I shouted.

“Maturity you say? I want to see you two get out of my house before I get back, Patricia said breathing hard and left the house and I breathed out rubbing my face.
“Babe I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to but she kept shouting and insulting me, Loveth said touching me as I sat quiet not knowing what to do.

“But I thought she’s your twin, yet she embarrassed you that way because you’re squatting with her. Is she not to cover you up as her twin? She asked again and I breathed out.
“You’ve heard her, she wants us out, I said and she heaved.

“Do you have any other place to stay? She asked.
“Only my parents place, I replied.

‘Don’t worry, you can stay at my place okay, she said.
“No no you don’t have to do that, I said.

“Common its comfortable over there and its boring staying there alone, don’t say no please, she said clinging on me.
“Are you sure about that? I asked.

“Very sure, besides it will be more fun there, She replied winking at me and I smiled.
“I can see that, I said and she laughed.

“Naughty you, let’s start parking so your sister can breathe well, she said getting up.
“Okay thats my stuff, let me rush back to the stand okay, I said giving her a peck and rushed out.
To be honest I felt nothing just happened in there or even bothered to call Patricia after three days I parked in with Loveth. Anytime Patricia calls me on phone Loveth drops the call, at a point she blocked her number and fed my ears with discouraging words about my family that I saw sense in all she said.

I was relaxing at home and my mother call came on phone and I picked up,
“Mommy afternoon, I greeted.
“Where are you? She asked ignoring my greetings.

“Is there a problem? At least answer my greeting na, I replied and Loveth came out from the bathroom with a towel on her body and sat beside me.
“So if I didn’t call you won’t tell me mommy good afternoon huh? Where are you Patrick! My mother angrily shouted for the very first time.

“I’m somewhere, I replied.
“I want to see you at home now! She shouted and dropped the call.
I heaved and looked at Loveth,

“Your sister has reported you, but don’t be scared stand strong for me okay, She said touching me.
“She’s so angry, I said to her.

“Yes because Patricia has told her a lot of lies, she said and I breathed out.
“I have to go now, I said and stood up to dress up and minutes later I was at home.

Everyone was seated looking at me and my father cleared his throat,
“First of all who is this lady causing trouble? He asked.
‘Who? I asked.

“What is who? Answer the question, my mother replied.
“I don’t understand the question because there is no lady causing trouble, I said.

“Dad is talking about your girlfriend, Frank calmly said.
“Did you call me to discuss about my girlfriend? I asked.

“Patrick! How special is that girl that your family can’t discuss about her when she’s separating you from your sister? My mother asked.
“She did nothing wrong and little wonder you all are standing on your daughter side because Loveth is not here to tell her story. Did you tell them how you disrespected me in front of her? I asked Patricia.

“If not you’re my brother, you won’t like my response to you. She disrespected me first, Patricia replied.
“Like I was not there huh? Who slapped who first? I asked.

“Talking about the slap, you watched your so called girlfriend slapped your sister in her own house without doing anything? My father asked.
“Everything is all about “her house” you all don’t need to remind me that I was squatting with her, and what did you expect me to do when Patricia slapped her first? Ofcourse she is someone daughter and a human being with feelings and she simply defended herself. Why not caution your daughter to keep her hands down next time, I replied and Patricia scoffed.

“You see what I’ve been going through papa? If you go to my house now the walls are stained with things I don’t understand. I don’t know if she eats and cleans her hands on the wall or something, and my bedspread will be so dirty. The house will be so littered with dirty plates and unflushed toilet after use, who won’t be angry with that? Patricia asked.
“Are you serious? I know you to be a clean guy Patrick, but having a dirty girlfriend and seeing nothing wrong with it is alarming, my mother said and I smiled.

“My girlfriend is neat and too classy for some allegations like this. Just admit it that you don’t like her, that’s so petty of you Patricia, I replied.
“Hold on, I know siblings fight it’s not a new thing but we didn’t call you here to throw bullets here and there but settle this matter. If we want to continue in this manner we won’t achieve anything. And you Patrick, you not seeing anything wrong with all your girlfriend is doing is not right. She is your sibling and you won’t be happy if the same was done in your house, Frank said.

“Is that it? What exactly am I here for? She told me to leave her place right? What’s left for me to do? I asked.
“Then you blocked her line after she called? Of course she was angry you watched your girlfriend insulting her without doing anything, if she had that love to call back what did you do? Frank asked.

“Are you the judge here? I asked.
“Excuse me! Frank shouted.

“You didn’t call me here please, what am I here for? You guys are not saying anything tangible, I replied and they all looked at me shocked.
‘What has she done to you? Patricia asked and I hissed.

“Where are you staying and why are you not doing your business? My father asked.
“I stay somewhere now and I have a different stand so don’t worry, I replied and Frank breathed out.

“I want to see this girl, my mother said.
‘No, none of you can see her again so please I am begging you all to let her be, I said.

“Patrick what is wrong with you? Is she turning you against your own family? Okay fine I apologize if I embarrassed you in anyway, I’m sorry, Patricia said.
‘That’s not important now after all you were showing me my place so stop the pretense, I said.

“Enough! My father shouted and began to cough and Patricia ran to bring him a glass of water. I just sat where I was not interested at all, my heart was so hardened with everyone.
