Episode 14.

Itohan watched her son break open the piggy box she had been saving her money. Efosa poured the content of the box and they began to arrange and count the money.

“Mum is a millionaire” Efosa said smiling as he handed over the money to Itohan.

“Millionaire ke!” She laughed

“You see this money so, na for business. After the rain stop, I go pay for the space wey I see. I wan continue my business. When I gather enough money to rent shop and buy sewing machine, I go stop”

“You are industrious mum”

“Wetin be industrious” She asked frowning

Efosa explained and she smiled.

“I don tire to stay house”

The rain still drizzling, Itohan picked an umbrella and left home. When she returned, she told Efosa she had paid for a space not far from the house.

“Tomorrow carpenter go do work there”

“At least you will be occupied with something else. Enough of your tears” Efosa told her

Itohan took the decision to return to her business because Nosa with all his money refused to purchase a sewing machine with which she can start a business with. She was tired of crying and lamenting. She was tired of hoping and expecting Nosa to come home. The pregnancy wasn’t going to stop her from doing the Akara business. Boredom was gradually killing Itohan, she was going to make her money, she was not going to wait for him. She knew he won’t be pleased with her kind of business. If he doesn’t like the business, he should do something about it.
Itohan went on her knees and worshipped God.

“Osanobua, as I wan start this business so, abeg bless me. Bring people to come buy from me” She prayed.

———————————–

Since Nicole returned from the hospital, she had observed Nosa. He was very happy and more than caring. He looked younger than his age. Yes, whatever Nosa is, she made him. All the money he spends are from her. Nosa knew she never withhold anything from him.

Nicole never failed to remember how Nosa lusted after her until he succumbed to her charm. He couldn’t resist her. For months, she had been praying to miss her period. She loved him so much to carry his child. She had ensured that he doesn’t return home to his wife and kids. She kept throwing money at him.

“Your family doesn’t need you as long as you settle them. This place is more befitting of your status. Allow Itohan enjoy the money, while I enjoy you” She told him.

So Nosa bought into the idea. Both of them would drive home and park his car beside his house. He would call the security man outside and pay him. Then he would hand over an envelope to him.

“Give my wife”

Nicole remembered the last time she went with him as usual, Nosa handed an envelope to the security man.

“Oga try give her by yourself. The last time I give her, she cry well well. I no wan see her like that”

“Will you shut up” Nicole interrupted “Collect that envelope and do as he said”

“Okay ma”

“She must never know you saw me with a woman” Nosa warned.

“Okay sir”

Nicole smiled and sat up in bed.

“Are you going somewhere” She asked frowning.

“Yes. I want to see my wife” He announced buttoning his shirt. “I need to see how they are doing. Itohan is my wife you know. She is pregnant too. I need to be there for her too”

Nicole was taken aback.

“When are you coming back?”

“I don’t know. Maybe two weeks or a month time. Let me go on leave please.

“What?” She screamed.

“What will happen to me? Yes Itohan is pregnant. This is not her first pregnancy but this is my first pregnancy”

“You will be fine. The maid is here for you”

Nosa hugged and kissed her. Nicole started crying. He wiped her tears with the back of his hands but she kept crying.

“Choose between me and Itohan. I don’t want you to go to her”

“I can’t choose. I love you Nicole and I also love my wife. Alright I will spend just two weeks”

But she refused.

“5 days” She said.

Nosa watched her cry.

“Alright 5 days”

Nicole hugged him and cried but Nosa gently pulled her away from him. He drove out of the compound to see his family.

———————————–

Nosa drove into the compound expecting his wife to rush out of the house to greet him. He was disappointed. There was no one at home. He entered the house and soon returned to the security man.

“Did my wife tell you where she is going to?” He asked.

“Aaah! She don start market”

“Market?”

“She get shop where she dey fry things dey sell”

“Okay!”

He went inside and sat in the living room. He had really missed his family. He stood up and went to his children’s room. He sat on the bed then returned to the sitting room. For no reason, his eyes went to the picture frame of himself and wife hung on the wall. He stood up and moved to the wall. He touched Itohan and stare at the frame for a time before returning to the chair. Suddenly, he was eager to see his wife. So many thoughts began to cross his heart . He went to the kitchen to get something to eat. He found nothing. Nosa decided to cook something for the family. He had set the food on the dinning table when Itohan entered. She was surprised to see him yet pretended as if he was not visible. Itohan greeted him and passed him to the bedroom. Who the hell does he think he is to play with her heart. She removed her scandals and threw her bag on the bed and sat on the chair. Nosa entered and sat beside her. He took her hands but she withdrew them.

“No touch me”

He placed his hand on her shoulder but she removed it.

“You wicked. Na today you remember to come home abi? Sleep for work na” She told him.

Nosa refused to comment. Itohan ranted and fought him. He understands she was frustrated. He allowed her hit him until she was calmed
The tears flowed freely from her eyes and Nosa was shaken. He told her he was sorry. They sat quietly for a long time. The only sound was the ticking of the clock.

“I don start business” She told him “I no want stay house again. Na akara and buns”

Nosa frowned and wanted to say something but swallowed it.

“Don’t worry I go buy sewing machine for you. Everything wey tailor supposed get for shop, I go do am for you? But I for like make you stop work”

“Why?”

“Because of your pregnancy”

Itohan looked at her bulging stomach and back to her husband. So he knew she was pregnant after all. It was already showing.

“I no be lazy person. Pregnancy no fit tie me down for this house. I no be water leaf” She said.

Nosa could not help but laugh. He actually missed their gisting together. He vowed to make the five days count . He was going to show her love like never.
