Pastor Chris announces ‘Year of Lights,’ Future Africa Leader Award winner chosen
Last night’s annual New Years’ Eve service at the LoveWorld Convocation Arena hosted by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome was everything we expected and more. The Future Africa Leader Award Winner (FALA) ceremony shone bright on the future of youth in Africa. From several special guest appearances to stunning performances, the Year of Lights is sure to be spectacular.
Last night’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration at the LoveWorld Convocation Arena certainly met the hype surrounding the event. Alongside moving words delivered by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the FALA Future Africa Leader Award ceremony gave us inspiration for the future of our youth and for the upcoming year. Last night’s packed house was complimented by musical performances and moving sermons by truly inspirational presenters. The announcement that 2019 is the Year of Lights drew a jolting excitement and applause heard in the heavens from attendees at the ceremony and those watching from afar.
Year of Lights 2019 follows Year of the Supernatural 2018
The whole country was buzzing in anticipation for the announcement of this year’s theme – Year of Lights. The Year of the Supernatural, 2018, saw many prophecies and miracles come to pass. Members of Christ Embassy traveled to the Holy Land in 2018 to witness the historic opening of the American Embassy in Jerusalem – the eternal capital of the State of Israel. In addition, Rhapsody of Reality a Daily Devotional surpassed many milestones, with a record 1.3 billion copies distributed to share light throughout the world. FALA star prize winner announced by former president Olusegun Obasanjo
The much-anticipated Future Africa Leader Award was rightfully bestowed upon Isiah Deng, an up and coming youth leader hailing from South Sudan. Deng effectively empowers the youth in his community to become self-reliant and equipped for a future looking beyond the civil war that his home nation has grappled with for many years. Isiah created and facilitated various youth development programs, aimed at restoring peace and hope in the hearts of the youth of his nation.
The Future Africa Leaders Award is a prestigious humanitarian initiative aimed at “exploring and expanding young leadership in Africa and for Africa.” Nominees of the FALA and Star Winner Award are chosen through their merits and commitment to change in their community and hosted by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome. The Future Africa Leaders Foundation seeks to recognize, nurture and celebrate young African leaders and activists from all over the continent who show promise and initiative, especially those pushing for major social and economic change.
Past recipients of the Future Africa Leaders Award have continued on to represent their countries in various international stages, including delegations to the United Nations and speeches at formidable universities including Harvard and MIT.
Isiah’s commitment to his community made him the perfect candidate for the FALA Future Leaders Africa Award, and recognition as 2018’s Star Winner was more than well deserved. Isiah was dubbed the “Star Prize” winner, and his winning position was announced by none other than Nigeria’s former president Olusegun Obasanjo. Also in attendance last night was the Honorable Solomon Dalong, the Minister of Sport and Youth.
Although the FALA Star Winner is only given to one individual each year, this year’s participants all deserved recognition. The promise of the Youth in Africa and their commitment to their communities and the world at large continues to supersede all expectations, and the future holds only bright things for these committed individuals.
Minister of Youth and Sport Solomon Dalong attends Future Africa Leaders Award ceremony
Last night’s New Year’s Eve event was attended by many important officials, including the Honorable Solomon Dalong, Nigerian Minister of Sport and Youth. Attendance and support from government officials reassures the participants that their voices and efforts are being heard and appreciated at the highest levels of the community. Nominees from this year’s FALA Future Africa Leaders award included representation from all aver Africa, including countries such as Cameroon, Zambia, Ghana and Malawi.
Runners up to the Star Winner award included Yusuph Gasase (Tanzania); Mame Ya Mensah (Ghana); Dahaba Daniel Sakoh (Senegal); Godwin Egba (Nigeria); Ngassa Merlin (Cameroon); Taonga Ngoma (Zambia); Chris Iyama (Nigeria); Lantante Duamangue (Niger); and, Deliwe Makata (Malawi). All of these youths are deserving examples of the light the future holds for Africa.
“This year you are going to shine ever so brightly” Says Pastor Chris Oyakhilome
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome promises the upcoming 2019 to be a Year of Lights. Delivering a riveting speech to an excited crowd, he reassured “This year, you are going to shine ever so brightly.” According to the Pastor, there are four important things to be shared about light. Light is for illumination; light is for leadership; light gives empowerment; light is for signs and wonders. May this year be full of love, hope and light to all!
Prophesizing for the year ahead, Pastor Chris declared “We’re entering into a new phase of the Church’s ministry in the earth, like as never been known before — a dimension of the glory of God in the earth beyond what the Church had known.”
Reflecting on last night’s events, the presentation of the Future Africa Leaders Award gives hope that FALA recipients will illuminate the upcoming generations in these great nations. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s illuminating words ushered in a spectacular new year to eager congregants all around the globe.
