Nigeria Referees to conclude proposal to stop officiating Nigeria Premier League over life threat attacks
The Nigeria Referees’ Association will consider a proposal to stop its members from officiating Nigeria Premier League matches.
In a chat, the NRA’s publicity secretary Kelechi Mejuobi said the two incidents of violence against match officials three weeks into the new season has raised questions of the capability of clubs to provide adequate security at match venues and protection for Referees during and after games.
He stated that a decision on quitting the NPFL until the concern over the safety of Referees is addressed by the clubs will be one of the top issues during the Association’s AGM, but informed that an executive committee meeting held recently had agreed on measures to be taken in the immediate times until then.
