Nancy Isime revealed her initial fear of fame
Nancy Isime, an actress and media figure, has opened up about her early anxiety of being famous.
During her guest appearance on the CreativiTEA podcast, Isime discussed her early career and shared how she used to be afraid of the spotlight.
She said, “I was actually very scared of the limelight. When I started working, I used to see how a popular blog would pick random stories about famous people, and people would give unsolicited opinions. It seemed like it was okay to do that, but I was already worried about fame. I was just a kid who wanted to work.”
She also recalled how she had always been motivated to become financially independent from a young age.
“I have always been the child who saw herself making her own money; maybe because I came from a humble background where asking for anything felt like a taboo. You just knew there wasn’t any money. I am a huge believer in spending on myself, because I don’t want anyone to feel like without them, I wouldn’t have the life I have,” she said.
The actress also expressed gratitude for the opportunities she had found in Nigeria. She said, “I worry about people who constantly say, ‘Nigeria is bad’. They are speaking negativity into a country that is supposed to serve them. I can’t do that. Nigeria has given me everything—fame, money, and the ability to take care of myself and my family. There are just a few people who make it seem like it shouldn’t be that way, but Nigeria is blessed.”
