How To Know A Male And A Female Serial Killers – Scientists Reveals
The vast majority of serial killers are men, but there is also a lot of evidence in history that they can be women. Generally, the first serial killer in history can be considered a woman named Locusta, which made a lot of poisoning in Ancient Rome. Psychology Professor Marissa Harrison believes that women and men deal with their victims in different ways, and on different occasions. It turned out that the differences are really a lot, and they are associated with the evolutionary characteristics of the sexes.
Serial killer woman
Historically, men are hunters of large prey, and women are skilled gatherers of plants, grains and other similar food. Based on this, psychologist Marissa Harrison wondered: did the ancient role on the principles of murder committed by criminals of female and male?
To find out, she teamed up with her colleagues Adam Jordan Gott and Susan Hughes. They collected archival data on 55 male serial killers, and the same number of female killers. All of them from 1856 to 2009 committed murders of three or more people with a week periodicity.

The archives showed a sharp difference between the principles of their murders. As it turned out, most serial killers of the female gender had secondary or higher education, then the men were members of the lower classes. Women chose poisons as the murder weapon, while men strangled or shot their victims.
The fact that evolution still influenced their methods of killing, psychologists have seen by looking at other statistics. Female assassins, like their “ancestor gatherers,” did not stray far from their familiar surroundings. Their victims were close people who did not even need to be pursued. Men, in turn, in most cases pursued their victims.
In our sample, there were two serial female killers who committed similar stalking behaviors during their crimes. However, archival records indicate that men were also involved in these crimes.

Psychologists believe that the features they found will help investigators catch dangerous killers and solve particularly complex cases. When it comes to crime detection, the police often turn to science and technology — in March 2019, it became known that the Department of new York for three years using artificial intelligence to identify the “handwriting” of robbers.
