How To Control Asthma
Share this post:

About 300 million people around the world suffer from asthma, including many of the world’s top athletes. It can be difficult to breathe when you have asthma, a common chronic lung disease. Asthma has no cure, but those who manage their condition well can lead active healthy lives.

It’s common for asthma to be a lifelong condition, but this shouldn’t mean that you or your child should constantly have trouble breathing. Working with a doctor and paying attention to your asthma symptoms will allow you to keep flares under control and do what you want to do.

You might need to adjust your asthma medications for the best control of your asthma. There are a few things you can do to help control your asthma if it isn’t as well controlled as it could be.

Identify and control your triggers

Pay attention to wheezing and coughing when and where’ they occur. It might be possible to prevent asthma flare-ups if you can pinpoint the triggers. In addition to cold air, exercise, and airborne allergens like pollen and pet dander, it may also be triggered by colds.

Asthma attacks can also be triggered by strong perfume, hair spray, talcum powder, and cigarette smoke. These items may be avoided to prevent asthma attacks. Make sure everyone in your home quits smoking, too. Smokers still carry the smell and chemicals inside with them even if they only smoke outside.

Use an Air Purifier

It is possible to worsen asthma symptoms by breathing in a dry atmosphere, and airborne allergens can make asthma symptoms worse by irritating the throat and nasal passages. Since the body overproduces mucus to protect passageways from debris, waking up with a sore throat or postnasal drip is much more likely without humidifiers and air cleaners. Humidifiers and air purifiers help keep the air moist and reduce nasal and throat irritation. Here you can check the air purifier for room and make your surroundings and room fresh.

Do exercise

Even though asthma can make some exercises difficult, working out is still recommended. You’ll also benefit from regular exercise if you have asthma. A 30-minute exercise routine nearly doubled an asthmatic’s chances of controlling their symptoms compared to a person who didn’t exercise.

Running might be too strenuous for you, so try biking, hiking, or yoga instead. Swimming can be a great sport for asthmatics due to the moist, warm air that surrounds swimming pools. In order to exercise in a safe and healthy manner, you should warm-up and focus on exercises that don’t involve long periods of strenuous work.

Maintaining a Clean House

Dust mites are tiny, wingless insects found in furniture, bedding, and carpets. Breathing in these animals may aggravate asthma symptoms in you or your child. You can greatly reduce their number by making changes to your home, but you cannot eradicate them completely.

To kill mites in your pillow, wash it at least once a week in hot water of at least 130 degrees F. Cool or warm water with bleach may be used as well. Ensure that your child’s sheets, blankets, and stuffed toys are washed every week. Remove the carpet in the bedroom, and use an air conditioner to maintain a 35% – 55% humidity level in your home.

Avoid smoke & Allergens

Asthma symptoms are more likely to develop in smokers. As well as non-smokers, non-smokers should avoid smoking since tobacco smoke damages the airways and could lead to an asthma attack. Asthma can be triggered by airborne allergens. You should be especially vigilant during allergy season.

Reduce Stress

Many people with asthma are triggered by stress. A person’s breathing and heart rate rise when they’re stressed. Finding ways to relax can help prevent and reduce allergy symptoms, so it should come as no surprise that finding ways to relax can help. Among the best ways to cope with asthma symptoms are massage, meditation, relaxing baths, and exercise. Asthma patients typically require two types of drugs to manage their condition: one for emergencies that work fast and one for long-term treatment.

Eat Healthy food

Asthma symptoms can be controlled by getting the right vitamins and nutrients in your diet. Anti-inflammatory vitamins, for example, are beneficial for asthmatics. These vitamins help reduce inflammation and improve lung function. The salt reduction can also help asthmatics.

Let the sunshine

Spending time in the sun produces vitamin D in our bodies, which can reduce asthma complications and is important for overall health. Prepare a plan for asthma emergencies. When you have an asthma attack, make sure you and someone nearby have a plan in place. You should write down which medications you should take and how. It will be easier to get you the help that you need if you show this plan to someone nearby.
