All James Bond movies are now available on Prime Video except two staples missing

Although fans of James Bond are still waiting to learn who the next 007 will be, they did receive some positive news few days regarding the spy franchise.

This is due to the fact that the whole James Bond film collection has been uploaded to Amazon Prime Video in recent days, making it all accessible for streaming in one location.

Based on Ian Fleming’s novels, the legendary spy movie franchise started in October 1962 with Dr. No, starring Sean Connery as the now-iconic MI6 agent.

Since then, 007 has been played by Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig across 25 films.

What the future holds for Bond is currently unknown, but while waiting for further announcements on that front, everything from Dr. No right through to 2021’s No Time to Die is available for fans to stream.

However, while there are 25 official Bond films in the official Eon Productions collection, two key films from the history of the franchise are not included on Amazon.

Which James Bond films are not on Amazon?

The 1967 spy parody film Casino Royale, which starred David Niven as the lead hero and was produced by Columbia Pictures, does not appear in the collection.

Largely panned by critics upon its release, the tone of Casino Royale turned many fans off and it remains the least popular Bond film of the last 62 years.

Despite its poor reception, however, the film was a major commercial success and some Bond completionists consider it part of the overall Bond story that’s been told on the big screen.

The film was remade several years later, in 2005, for Daniel Craig’s debut as 007, with a more serious tone – many consider it to be the greatest Bond film of all time.

Also missing from the Amazon collection is 1983 film Never Say Never Again, which was produced by Taliafilm instead of Eon but did star Sean Connery.

Connery, 53 at the time of the film’s release, played Bond in the film for the first time in 12 years, since his last appearance in 1971 film Diamonds Are Forever.

Directed by Irvin Kirshner, the film is based on the Ian Fleming novel Thunderball, which had already been adapted to screen 18 years earlier and had also starred Connery.

The film was also a major commercial success and has been praised by fans and critics for being a more understated version of a typical James Bond story.

Both Casino Royale (1967) and Never Say Never Again have been omitted from previous boxsets released by Warner Bros. across the last 20 years.

And it seems Amazon Prime have picked the ideal week to make all the Bond films available to stream, with October 5 officially recognised as James Bond Day worldwide.

Who will be the next James Bond?

At the moment, the question of who will play James Bond next doesn’t have an answer, with several big names touted as being the man to take over from Daniel Craig.

Favourites with UK bookmakers are the likes of Fall Guy star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Happy Valley’s James Norton, The Witcher’s Henry Cavill, and Bridgerton’s Rege Jean Page.

Someone who won’t be returning to the franchise is director Sam Mendes, who has decided to step away after directing Skyfall and Spectre in 2012 and 2015.

‘Never say never, to quote the man, but I would doubt it,’ Mendes told Inverse. ‘[Bond] was very good for me at that moment in my life. I felt like it shot me out of some old habits. It made me think on a bigger scale.

‘[But] they want slightly more malleable people who are earlier in their career, who perhaps are going to use it as a stepping stone, and who are more controllable by the studio.‘
