NITDA backs initiative to nurture young talent
The National Information Technology Development Agency has supported a program to nurture youthful talent in the country, which will culminate in the 2024 Head-to-Head Debate Reality House grand final.
The Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, who was represented by Yakubu Musa at the ceremony in Abuja, emphasized the significance of empowering young, calling them as Nigeria’s most valuable resource.
“Investing in human resources is critical for creating wealth, driving growth, and fostering innovation, ultimately shaping Nigeria’s future,” Musa said in a statement released on Monday on X.
The event, hosted by the Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education Board, aimed to showcase young people’s debating skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
By developing young talent, NITDA said it sought to create a pool of skilled individuals driving Nigeria’s digital transformation and economic growth.
Recently, the agency has reassured commitment towards empowering millions of Nigerian youths in 2024 through various initiatives aimed at enhancing digital literacy.
NITDA, in collaboration with GetBundi Education Technology, has launched the Digital Literacy for All initiative.
The programme aims to train 5,000 youths and select National Youth Service Corps members as digital literacy champions.
The agency emphasised the importance of a digitally literate populace, particularly among the youth, to leverage digital services effectively.
