Radiohead Launches Online Public Library
After releasing its entire discography online in 2019, Radiohead has just launched a huge digital archive entitled Radiohead Public Library which brings together all the different facets forming part of the band’s lengthy career. The website is very well organized and gives an overview of Radiohead’s work and everything that goes with it.
Fans, music lovers and anyone curious about the band will find numerous rarities, including live recordings and unheard tracks released only on vinyl. Plenty of videos are also available, including concerts filmed in high resolution and TV appearances. Most of the resources have never previously been made available.
The media library also offers an interactive element, as users can create their own ‘library card’ to select their favorite content and order merchandise from different eras, much of which sold out decades ago. The exhaustive library is a genuine time capsule, combining digital and material items.
Here’s a list of the most remarkable features from the website, taken from the band’s Reddit:
- All the video podcasts made for the release of the album Kid A
- An official film of the band’s controversial concert in Tel Aviv in 2017
- A 14-minute unheard recording of their 1997 Glastonbury performance
- All the group’s ‘office charts’ available as playlists on streaming platforms
- All their music videos in high resolution
- The famous OKNOTOK cassette available for streaming. Only a small number were released when OK Computer was re-released in 2017.
- The band’s first EP, Drill, released in 1992, the 2005 track “I Want None of This” and the remix EP TKOL RMX8 from 2011, all made available for the first time.
As well as all this, from January 20, each member of Radiohead will spend a day ‘curating’ the website. They’ll be uploading items from their private archives, as well as their own personal choices, sharing them on the band’s social media. It’s quite the renaissance for the long-standing band.
