Joe EL, Skiibii And The Untold Story Of Luck In Music The Industry [Must Read]
It didn’t take long time to discover that the same reason Skiibii featured Olamide for “Ah Skiibii Remix”, was the same reason Joel Amadi brought in Baddo for “Yamarita.”
These guys are just upcoming artists who have been offered big platforms, utilized it, but that utility ended in futility. Why? No solid reason. Talent? They’re crazily talented. Grind? They’re grinding real hard. Money? Their Labels pay (or in the case of Skiibii, paid) for their stuffs. What again? Interviews? O yapa. Everything is set. But, they just won’t blow up!
When Joe EL came into limelight somewhat in 2014 or ‘15, when he got signed to Kennis Music. His hit “Hold On,” feat. 2baba, was damn cool. Later, “Chukwudi” came. Very hot! This is in the re-incarnation of 2Face. But, that was it. Over three years after, he’s got no hits. And, he can’t have an Album. (He can, but shouldn’t.) He’s done “Do Good” – a song which enjoyed 100% airplay on RayPower FM (obviously) – and “Yamarita,” the very one that had Olamide.
When Falz said “If you fake your own death, you fii still nor blow,” we knew it was for Skiibii, who in 2015 died (allegedly) and rose again. But, there’s a line we don’t pay attention to, and it’s “you wan try lucky maybe you’ll win lotto.” The industry is like Lottery, and every move made is guarded by luck. If you get luck, one tweet fit blow you, but as Falz said, if you fake your own death, you fii still nor blow. Skiibii didn’t blow.
Whenever you are being advised about matters on how to make it in the industry, people cite three things; “HHP”
- Humility [H]
- Hardwork [H]
- Prayer [P]
They usually say don’t add “Luck.” Some believe luck doesn’t exist. Oh! Skiibii or Mr. Eazi, who suppose blow first? Joe EL or small DOCTOR? Dice Ailes or Mayorkun? Still don’t believe in luck? Think ’bout Dammy Krane? Sean Tizzle? And, the King, Sinzu? Uh! Still don’t believe in luck? I love you!
Last year, Kiss exited his Label, and for weeks, his matter was trending. The back-and-forth with G-Worldwide made headlines for weeks. BUT, Skiibii left. And, yes, he left. That was it. You think if Joe EL leaves, news go carry am ? Sorry oh!.
NOTE: This article ain’t to ponder hate stuffs on these guys, what we’re trying to bring out in a nutshell is that LUCK does exist. That’s why Ycee blow pass Dremo, and Dremo blow pass BlaqBonez. You need humility, prayer and all that, but you need luck too. Now, hold your head and say “May luck not be against me.” In Jesus name. Peace off!
