Fear of the impact of the smartphone on the human body is not new and stretches, it seems, since the creation of the first phone. There are a lot of people who support the theory that smartphones are harmful to the body, and those who do not think so. There is a lot of research on this topic, but at the moment we are on the verge of a new standard of communication in the face of 5G and disputes flare up with renewed vigor. Let’s try to figure out whether 5G is really dangerous.

First, let’s take a brief look at the main differences between 5G and previous standards. First, 5G works at higher frequencies. While the 1, 2, 3 and even 4 generation networks operate in the 700 MHz to 6 gigahertz range, the 5G operates at ultra-high frequencies from 28 to 100 gigahertz. Plus in this situation is a significant increase in speed: 5G can transmit data at speeds up to 10 Gbit/S. in addition, this frequency band is less congested and therefore has less interference. However, these higher frequency waves cannot travel long distances and penetrate massive objects. Therefore, 5g radio towers should be installed at an average distance of 150-200 (maximum 500) meters from each other for a confident signal transmission. This means that the impact of radio frequency radiation will be much higher than now.

So will this “bombardment” by radio radiation increase our risks of various diseases? On the one hand, there are studies related to the study of 4th generation networks, in which there is some connection between the development of tumors of the Dura mater, auditory nerve and salivary glands and exposure to 4G radio emission. At the same time, we should not forget that the studies were conducted on animals and they were exposed to radiation for a very long time, almost closely approaching the source of radio waves. In the real world, in order to get such a dose of radio frequency radiation, you literally have to live next to the tower for a very long time. At the same time, the smartphone is not always located near the ear, so the radiation is not so terrible in this case.

Headaches and effects on memory, hearing, behavior and sleep

Some people also claim that they have hypersensitivity to radio frequency radiation. They say exposure to radio frequencies causes multiple symptoms such as headaches, muscle aches, dizziness rashes, insomnia, and even nosebleeds. I am immediately reminded of the TV series “Better call solu”, where one of the characters suffered an extreme degree of these disorders. Numerous studies (particularly those of the FDA) indicate that there is no correlation between exposure to radio frequencies from mobile phones and the development of adverse health effects. At the same time, such symptoms can still be manifested from the use of mobile electronics (like any other kind of PC or TV). And this is due to the banal fatigue and hyperexcitation of the nervous system. Long-term exposure of any kind affects the Central nervous system is not the best way, so all you need to know the measure.
So what about 5G?

There are no reliable studies on the impact of this standard of communication on humans at the moment, but based on the previous data, it can be concluded that some harm can be caused by the technology. At a minimum, adversely affect the Central nervous system with prolonged use. That with a long. From a couple of conversations a day is unlikely to happen. At the same time, waves of higher frequency penetrate much worse through massive objects, which means that at home or in the office they are unlikely to cause much harm.

But do not forget that the tower format 5G will “poke” much denser than the installer for the current formats and so will need to protect yourself just in case. Therefore, it is worth remembering some precautions and do not forget that in some situations, the radiation from the phone (regardless of whether it has a 5g module or not) is greatly enhanced. Namely:

  • At the beginning of the call, when the phone tries to connect to the cell tower
  • When the mobile phone has a bad connection with the tower (1-2 divisions)
  • With fast movement (the phone switches from one tower to another)
  • When streaming, downloading, or sending large files

What can be done? Well, firstly, to minimize the use of a smartphone in the above situations. You can also increase the distance between your mobile phone and your body with a speakerphone or headset (the farther your phone is from your body, the less impact). Send text messages instead of calling without unnecessary need. And of course you should not trust various gadgets like “covers, absorbing the signal” and other crafts. Such accessories must pass a lot of certification and because of this they will be very expensive, which is extremely unprofitable for manufacturers, because the product is not that very popular. A good advice would be to study the product itself and the manufacturer before spending money. Only Faraday’s cell can jam the signal 100%. But then the phone will not work.
