With his goal on Saturday, Cristiano Ronaldo has reached a scoring feat that no Juventus player has achieved in 50 years.

The Portugal star netted the opening goal in Saturday’s 2-0 win over SPAL, beating goalkeeper Alfred Gomis from six yards in the 28th minute at the Allianz Stadium.

Following an off-season move from Real Madrid, Ronaldo has now scored nine league goals in his first Juventus season through 13 matches.

That scoring rate for a first-time Juve player has not been accomplished since Pietro Anastasi managed it in the 1968-69 season, his first with the Old Lady after his move from Varese.

Ronaldo has been directly involved in half of Juve’s 28 goals in the current Serie A campaign, with nine goals and five assists.

Overall in his first season with Juve, Ronaldo has 10 goals in 16 appearances in all competitions, to go along with six assists.

Mario Mandzukic – starting as Juve’s captain in Serie A for the first time – scored his side’s other goal on Saturday, as the Croatian continued his bounce-back campaign.

Mandzukic has now scored his sixth league goal of the 2018-19 campaign, one more than he scored in 32 games in the whole of the 2017-18 season.

The two scorers weren’t the only players from the home to reach a milestone on Saturday, as defender Giorgio Chiellini played in his 483rd Juventus match, moving up to fifth on the club’s all-time appearance chart.
